Game of Thrones

I for one don't like Dany. I am hoping Jon Snow, the rightful heir to sit on the throne with Tyrion beside him.

I tried to stay far away from all theories as much as I could. But friends didn't leave me alone !

Snow isn't a leader. He's a soldier. He has the claim to the throne, but he lacks political tact. Dany has everything, even a dash of madness of her father. As a character, she truly deserves the throne. I like Snow as well. He has the lineage, the claim of having tamed the north and a warrior of magnitude. I think I will lose my mind if he rides Rhaegal. I think it will happen as well. But, thanks to his stupidity, Viserion died and I will physically cry if any more dragons die.

I just read a theory and it has sent me tits up at 2 am in the night..

I don't consider myself as someone who is a die hard fan of the series, but I do admit that I've followed the show since its inception. While I don't understand the hype that was created around the show when it first aired with everyone talking about it right and left, I do think it's a good series. It has kept me intrigued all through the 7 seasons and though I'm looking forward to the 8th season, I don't mind that it's the last one and quite frankly don't think I'll be having withdrawal symptoms past the finale.

I think it's running the precise amount of seasons that it should and any more extension would drag it to death.

I think it's been a bit rushed this season. Boy I'll cry my guts out if Dany dies or any of my dragons.

For those who have watched 08E03, care to share who all died? The internet is filled with lists that do not seem to match each other.

Well, at least one will surely die as it's already a part of the NG army.

Yeah just try to avoid spoilers as people haven't seen it yet, I will be watching it tonight.

The episode overall was great but just didn't like the Ending.

  • Edd.
  • Joarh Mormont ( Died fighting valiantly saving Danny from the deads).
  • Lyanna Mormont (Died savagely by killing the Giant wight)
  • Theon Grejoy (Died in a heroic way saving Bran at the hands of Night king)
  • Beric Dondarrion (Died fighting walkers to save Arya Stark)
  • Dothkraki Army.
  • The Night King and his whole army ( Killed by Arya Stark who stabbed her dagger and just like that boom all over).
  • Melissandre ( Sacrifices herself at the dawn after the war was over).
Melissandre was the real MVP of the episode firstly lighting up all the weapons of the Dothraki army, then the gate barrier and also gave a subtle hint about Arya's role in the war .

The reason why I not like the ending because the last couple of seasons the whole build was mainly about the Night King and the army of the death and it was Jon who was touted as Azor Ahai or the prince that was promised - uniting different breeds ( Wildlings, Nights watch , various houses etc. ) just for the this great war to take place and what we got was tweaking yelling and about to go 1 vs 1 at the dead dragon right before the end which was basically ended up nothing.

Last night's episode had some greats moments (Mel setting the Dothraki arakh on fire, the subsequent Dothraki charge, everything with Theon, Lyanna Mormont getting backhanded by the giant) but also too much you could see coming a mile off (Ed getting shivved in the back after saving Sam) and things that felt like fan service. Avoiding cliche is the strength of the books and season 1-4 of the show. The ending was garbage, incredibly anti-climactic and completely unearned.

Yeah i agree that the ending wasn't great but the battle was overall good.
I just think Bran and Jon Snow didn't do much.

Pretty much sums up the episode in this post.
Looking forward to episode 4 to see how they will take on Cersei with pretty much
80% of her army gone lol.

It's called Game of Thrones for a reason not Game of White Walkers.
They set-up that killing the make white walker will kill all it's creation and the previous episode their whole plan was to lure NK and kill him and then win, so no surprise that one kill did a poof/snap effect on all his army. I think Jon's real arc is with about his parents and will be resolved by the end.

So, which of the following were true?

I'll jump back in with the spoiler tags.

Ugh, there was so much to be frustrated about in the last episode, S08E04.

For one, some of the biggest things to happen, Jon telling his family about his heritage, and then Sansa telling Tyrion the same thing, both happened off screen. Aren't those conversations kind of a big deal?!

Being magically ambushed by Euron....again. You have a dragon. You're in the sky. You'd be able to see a whole fleet of ships in Blackwater Bay. Maybe they'd borrowed some kind of cloaking device from the Klingons on Star Trek?! Also, how many ships Daenerys have? This is the third time I believe in just over 2 series that her fleet has been smashed to pieces, and she just keeps finding those ships! It all felt kind of convenient that a fleet of ships just blindly sailed right into an ambush about 200m off the coast of exactly where they were heading. Can't help but feel you'd have had your guard up a little more that close to Kings Landing?

The huge crossbow things. Just fly round them. They're not SAM sites with laser guidance targeting. Just fly into the clouds. Come down behind them. Or fly straight at them without wavering and see if they shoot you.

Also, Euron was able to capture Missandei, but nobody else? They all washed to shore fine? Did he just feel charitable and left all the other major characters to swim for it rather than capturing/killing them as well?

I feel I also need to buy some shares in Westeros Airways. They are doing a roaring trade. Presumably they opened shortly after it took Arya and the Hound a full season to go on horseback the length of the country back to The North, but now people are doing the same thing in literally a few minutes. Seems very convenient from a storytelling perspective!

It wasn't all bad. The scene with Bronn was great, he continues to be a highlight. The scenes between Tyrion and Varys are also great as they scheme and ponder behind the scenes. The Jamie/Brienne arc continued to develop, including Jamie being Jamie right at the end. Arya and the Hound are clearly going to do some fun stuff as well now they've gone off together, and it was good to get a little glimpse in to Dany being like every other tyrant and not really caring how many people she kills to get to the Iron Throne.

All in all a bit too convenient for me, and some liberties with the story telling that the show has done well to avoid in previous series as it stayed faithful to the journey it was taking.
