General Cricket Discussion

:( He was a bright spark around the 2006-2008 period. Too bad he got dropped (although it was due to injury)

looking at SL v Eng U19s.

That Rajapaksa is looking like a great prospect. thats 3 hundreds in 4 innings. made 130 in the ODIs without anyone else making 50. (though england were batting to a d/l target so didn't have as much time)

Sky is a really good broadcaster. Found a site that is streaming the same match (Pak Vs NZ) with two videos - one showing the broadcst from sky and one from neo cricket. Decided to do a little experiment and compare the two (ahh, the joys of procrastination :p).

Sky beats it hands-down. 1st thing is the difference in quality - the sky one was clearly better. Nothing was distorted and I could easily see the ball, pitch, player's faces lol. Compare this to neo - highly pixelated - you struggle to distinguish between ball and pitch. Add this with the fact that there's constant advertisements. I'm not joking - an add hadn't finished between overs, so they quickly cut to the action as Akhtar releases the ball, How plays it to the leg-side, and the milli-second after the ball leaves the bat, they play the un-finished ad :facepalm Compare this to Sky - who even show Akhtar hobbling off too the dressing room for some physio.

Honestly - how do you SC guys, who pay for this service, put up with it?

Thats why government has issued a show cause notice to Ten Sports after recently concluded series. It was pathetic. Only Star Cricket and Espn are decent channels. They stop even the mid over advertisement if match is in a crunch situation. I remember watching Natwest 2002 final, there was not even a single advertisement between over 41 and 50. :clap

We have to bear it. I guess Neo Cricket has got the broadcasting rights for telecast of all ICC FTP matches being held in India.

And those 3D ads are exasperating!

Neo shows them once in 10-15 overs, so they aren't that irritating. You guys are simply making an issue out of it for no reason.

The last time I watched an international match on Neo Cricket, it was like a 3d ad per 2-3 overs and other ads aggravated it even more.

We don't have choice, do we? These broadcasters just want to mint as much money as possible and don't care about viewers. The only decent broadcaster for cricket in India is ESPN Star and they don't cover matches played in India. So i guess we just have to live with it.

I wouldn't pay a dime to watch the broadcast on Indian channels. Like Smurf said it's beyond irritating the way they cut immediately, not the mention how gawdy and annoying the adds are themselves.

Star Cricket seems ok, but I still would willingly pay twice or 3 times the amount to watch it on Sky. Sky's presentation is the best by a country mile, and of course Michael Holding.

You may be watching Ten Cricket my friend!

So, you're completely satisfied and happy with the broadcast? I wouldn't.
I am satisfied, not completely, but the advertisements don't really bother me much.

You must have some really low expectations, and it's why the broadcasters get away with it. Come on man - complain!!

You should see it in HD. Had to go to England for a week during September, and this pub was showing the match where Gul got that 6-fer. Managed to catch most of the 2nd innings, and for someone who watches most of their matches at crappy online streams of indian channels, it was like  wow! Definitley one of the best experiences I've ever had :D (sad, I know).

^ Yeah, HD channels are by far the best. I heard that this is the first time the world cup will be broadcasted in HD. I wonder what channel?

I think Sky also showed cricket in 3D at one point. I've seen Sky HD and it's delicious.
