General Cricket Discussion

anyone see the King twat comments by Ganguly?

'Cricketing logic suggests I should have been picked'

Yea because logic dictates that a franchise owner should pick a washed out middle aged has-been over an actual athlete.
He was the fourth highest run scorer in the previous season of the IPL. Ganguly scored 493 runs and the three guys who were ahead of him were Sachin Tendulkar (618), Jacques Kallis (572) and Suresh Raina (520).

Financial logic might have dictated that Ganguly should be picked (Big box office draw, brings in sponsors too). But cricketing logic...not for 400K he shouldn't have.

Would have been worth a 50 or 100K bid like Dravid/VVS.

Dravid went for $500,000k with Kochi. Thats $100,000 more than his base price, the same base price as Ganguly had. Its debatable why Ganguly is less valuable than Dravid for the IPL team owners. VVS Laxman went for $400,000, the same price that Ganguly had set as his base. Its very very very highly debatable why Ganguly cant go for atleast his base price when Laxman can be purchased for that same price (Ganguly > Laxman, Ganguly = Dravid (> at times), in IPL's so far).

yea but that requires trusting those dodgy sites, most of which are based in Asia. I'd rather throw my credit card out the window than give the number to those guys.

I found a Skysports link, that too in HD, for the WC for about 35 bucks. No way I'm paying $129 for Dish HD channel

Its actually $149 for the HD version on Dish.

But these cheap sites can be unreliable when you are watching a very exciting game and the stream suddenly goes off. For a huge event, I prefer shelling out the big bucks and go with the reliable guys.

Dravid went to RR, Laxman to Kochi.
And those two have been play international cricket. Ganguly hasn't. He retired ages ago. Big difference.

It's actually $129 if you buy before the 19th and 149 if you buy it after. I know online streams are unreliable but i'm not in any position to be shelling out 129 bucks especially to Dish

why pay at all then dude? plenty of high quality free streams. If you are going to use an illegal stream anyways, don't pay for it!

Or get a group of friends and got to a bar for the important games. Sure it's a bit more expensive in the long run for less games, but it's loads more fun. And I'm guessing you lot won't be interested in games like South Africa/Netherlands or anything in Group B anyways :p

Even Gilchrist and Warne haven't been playing cricket for quite some time now, Warne was retained and Gilchrist was purchased by the KXIP for a considerably high amount. If they are in for captaincy, then Ganguly surely is a much more influential leader and deserves to be a part of the game.

Warne was captain and coach of RR, no way he was going.

Gilchrist was a retarded buy for 950K.
