As far as I know, no. The NZ-AUS series wasn't scheduled because they were the WC finalists, but because they hadn't played a bilateral series for a long time.

Here's an intriguing Scottish Cricket scandal involving the sons of Aleem Dar and Kilmarnock Cricket Club - apparently they pretended to be Scottish players in order to meet eligibility requirements and play Club Cricket. Apparently eligibility requirements here are surprisingly harsh - one of our foreign pro players had to leave and play Cricket in England because of them, and the fact that an ICC umpire has been caught up in this isn't very good...
