General Cricket Discussion

All he said that he wouldn't find it easy to score a century here. He didn't "dare" or anything.
Do you think Virat finds difficult to score hundreds in Pakistan? What are your views on that?

I think it wouldn't matter in what ground, against whom Virat scores hundreds. He has scored 100s in almost all the countries and it wouldn't be anything difficult in Pakistan. Just because it is a sub-continent and even if the Pakistan team has a very strong bowling lineup, it wouldn't matter. He has scored 100s against Mitch Johnson, Mitch Starc in their home ground which is very difficult for an oversea batsman. Virat himself has said that grounds, opposition doesn't matter to him. Only thing he concentrates on is to contribute with the bat and help the team win every game.

You're right about this:
Kohli now holds the unique distinction of having scored centuries in every Test-playing nation that he has played in so far. In total, Kohli has now scored a total of 33 centuries in nine Test-playing nations, with only Pakistan being left out of the list as he hasn't travelled to the country yet.

Oh, of course you'll go ballistic once someone questions your "God", the greatest living thing in the whole universe ever. Nobody should question anything about him, right?

Lol! I just wanted to know your opinion, that's it. I've given my opinion and surely, being an Indian and considering the actual 'facts', I've given my views.

Take it easy man. You are the one who went ballistic here.

@Sodium I know you didn't ask for my views but still saying,
My answer is similar to yours. According to me, VK has scored everywhere under all conditions he has played in. So, scoring a century in Pakistan won't be a big deal either. And it is very unlikely that India will tour Pakistan. So, the comments by him could have been avoided.

EDIT- Also, Arthur just told that his bowlers will make it difficult for Kohli to score century which is a fair thing to say. Everyone will tell the same thing and I don't see any harm in it. He didn't say Kohli will not score. He just said it will be difficult to score. So, I take back my last sentence in last paragraph.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion (referring to Arthur here), I seriously don't see what he was trying to get out of it. Was he expecting the BCCI/Kohli to get enraged and try to prove him wrong by touring Pakistan?

That statement would have made perfect sense if India were about to tour Pakistan in near future. But we all know that's not going to happen anytime soon. On the contrary, it's painting a different picture.

EDIT: Wow! The heading is totally misleading. I was going off of it. zwarrior is right.

This^ isn't my opinion. I was simply pointing out what Arthur actually said, because the headline is misleading.

I don't have views on that, because i don't know what type of conditions he'd encounter. But usually it's easy to score runs in Pakistan.

LOL i think you are overblowing this hugely. He is simply saying what he thinks, why would he try to get anything out of a simple statement?
And btw, i've checked a lot of similar articles, and all of them have the same quote. We don't know whether he was saying this in response to a question, which he probably was, because why the hell would he say this if it wasn't being asked? What is he supposed to answer? "Our bowling is shite, so he'll easily smash us and score hundreds" ? He'll obviously speak positively of his team.
Here's what he said "Kohli is a fantastic player but our team will make it hard (for him) to score a century there (Pakistan)."
The fact that he said "there" means the guy asking him the question mentioned Kohli scoring in Pakistan first, not him.

Just see mine and asprin's edited posts :)

Thats so typical of you.....
I know, i was exaggerating hugely :D
It was a small dig at @Sodium , because he once called him the "God of modern cricket".
Kohli deserves the praise, but i really don't like cults of personality, doesn't matter from who it's coming.

Sachin Tendulkar is called the 'God of Cricket'. We don't actually mean he is a 'God' or something like that, but it's the way of appreciating and praising someone for their achievements, hard work, and dedication.

That is the only meaning for the sentence 'God of Modern Cricket'. Something which he might achieve in the years to come. Currently, he is one of the greatest ODI player as tweeted by Michael Vaughan:

Just some food for thought, the great West Indian teams of the 80s and 90s found the Pakistani conditions difficult, and if we specify ODI cricket those teams had Haynes/Greenidge/Viv, easily top 10 One day batsmen of all time.

From the top of my head I cant recall the subsequent world conquering Aussie sides of the latter 90s/2000s doing to well there either, albeit they didnt tour Pakistan probably?

Virat for me will undoubtedly go down as the best Indian batsman ever but the question lingers about the quality bowling he faced. No Warne/McGrath ect. Also at a time when the rules and equipment are stacked against bowlers its easy to deny his stats.

Alongside Aus/SA the Pakistanis have the best fast bowling lineup and most varied in the world today its an arrangement of Virat in Pakistan that sadly we may never witness in our lifetime.[DOUBLEPOST=1518110353][/DOUBLEPOST]

Its this type of posting why I initiated a ‘friendship’ with you in your early days on the board. Good to see you still hold strongly to your views and not afraid to challenge the existing cricketing authority.

Here are my 2 cents on what Mickey Arthur said. First congratulations Mickey you achieved what you wanted and that is fame and media limelight. Second what he said "The bowlers will make it difficult" and he absolutely right. No team in the world wants to make it easier for any batsman let alone Virat Kohli. They all want to intimidate and challenge all the batsman be it be Moen Ali. Nothing wrong in what he said as he got the first point I discussed. Irony is Virat Kohli's highest score of 183 is against Pakistan at a surface similar to what we see in Pakistan. Also his second century against Pakistan is at Adelaide Oval which is known again should also help Pakistani quicks. In cricket stats matter and stats have already proved that he scored century against the best of lineups. So Micky once again congratulations you got plenty of Indians riled up and you got your 2 minutes of media fame and I do not disagree with what you said. Get ready to be trolled years after years from now on once Virat Kohli scores a century against Pakistan from now on.

Seems like i didn't exaggerate too much. You say yourself that you agree, and then still bash him o.O

I think youre mistaken completely. From the article Artrthur is alluding to Virat scoring against Pakistan IN PAKISTAN!
