General Cricket Discussion

Not like the bloke who hates modern cricket and doesn’t watch cricket at all these days yet posts absolute tripe here in a cricket discussion forum for attention is ever going to concede that he is indeed full of shit though. :D

Yeah we all know that your grown up style is to insult someone in a worse manner directly on their profile publicly. ;)

I have done no such thing at all. Do you have proof of me attacking someone on their profile, then please go ahead and use the report feature, your mod friends are eager to act. Please stop with the lies, never attacked anyone on their profile. Seriously stop with the lies.

I refuse to believe that someone can act so poorly at denying something that they’ve done previously that was widely known. So much for all the ‘I’m a reformed person now, not like before’ act that you parade around with.

The BPL used to pay more money to overseas stars than the BBL a few years ago too. This is why I’m critical of the Bangladeshi side for underachieving relative to the resources they have at their disposal.

As much as these leagues are vital in finding hidden talent, they are no replacement for international cricket. I feel like it comes down to the lack of quality international cricket they play overseas - barring the likes of Shakib and potentially the Fizz. I know they like to have test series on their rank turners and beat Australia and England but those are pity points because no one gains from those games. No point in having a Test match that barely lasts 3 days (it doesn't translate into Test or ODI wins in foreign conditions)

Honestly, I would go so far as saying Afghanistan cricket is better at a T20 level and potentially depending on the pitch, they would give Bangladesh a quality game in an ODI.

Bangladesh's biggest issue has been getting their cricketers to make that step up from U19s/domestic level to international cricket so I'm not gonna disagree there. It might be down to their lack of international overseas tours compared to the other big teams but I feel the issue is a lot more at home with how their coaching setup is at senior level. It shouldn't take years of trial by fire on the international circuit for Litton Das to become good and it shouldn't take this long for Najmul Hossain to become a quality batter internationally when he's arguably the best they have in domestic cricket. Some coaching is clearly lacking in this step up that other nations aren't facing and I don't think it's exclusively down to those doctored pitches too (they might be one of those factors contributing though, NZ is a prime example of a team that did get better after changing their domestic surfaces).

I don't think slamming down their test wins at home over England and Australia as pity points is fair either when every test nation has done their best to doctor pitches to their advantage, sometimes heavily so. Even the bigger nations have been guilty of this. It's one of those things I wish us fans get over, we undersell our home victories far too much because we believe spin to be an element that shouldn't be a factor in deciding games compared to fans in SENA countries who'd happily dish out surfaces that are quite advantageous to their own strengths and are proud of those wins after it. In any case their recently sacked coach in Domingo agreed with your point and made surfaces more competitive for the sake of developing pacers which resulted in them losing games to West Indies and Afghanistan but gaining more valuable experience for their players and developing a pace battery now that isn't too shabby.

I'd have agreed with you on Afghanistan being a better T20I outfit in the recent past but after this WC... I doubt I can. Bangladesh finally have 3-4 pacers who are all arguably better than the best Afghanistan have to offer. Rashid Khan in his current form still trumps over every spin option they have but Afghanistan's batting beyond Gurbaz and Zadran on a good day is simply non-existent while Bangladesh have slowly built a core of adequate batters even if they are not the best suited to T20I cricket. ODIs are still Bangladesh's strongest format by far and I'd even back them against a stronger side with a good captain (I don't rate Tamim highly) now that their pace battery looks healthy finally. Afghanistan would need to play well above their level to win against Bangladesh in an ODI IMO.

Head’s been so good recently as an opener. Make him the captain you cowards!
