A 100% Zaheer will definitely make a difference. For a change, Spinners wont have to come on to bowl in 6th over of the match ;)

Holy crap. Didn't realise Basil D'Oliviera died,

RIP

He was amazing: "When he toured Australia in 1970?71 on the night after they won the series 2?0 he pushed his forefinger into the chest of every Australian he met, saying 'We stuffed you'"

^I'm sure that would have made him a popular fellow :noway Aussies can take good hearted banter - hence sledging I guess :), but you can't take it too far...

It's a bit in poor taste, but sometimes it takes these guys to die for fans to get a decent idea of older players and some of the history of the game. I know a lot more about D'Oliviera now than I did a couple of days ago.

There's a lot of literature on D'Oliveira and that era, but it's not something you have cause to read about everyday. Alas, as a coloured South African who made his County Championship debut at the age of 33, he's probably remembered as much for not playing as for playing.

Basil D'Oliviera, known as cricket's apartheid hero passed away on 19 November aged 80 after suffering from Parkinson's disease.
The England tour of South Africa in 1968 had to be called off because of D'Oliveira's presence in the English side.
He played 44 tests between 1966 to 1972 scoring 2484 runs at an average of 40.06 and also took 47 wickets at 39.55 with his medium pace bowling. He remains one of the oldest debutants making his test debut aged 35.

RIP Mr.D'Oliviera

As long as it's for the right reasons I support it. If it really is going to help develop players and have coaching benefits etc. then cool. But if it's just to sell the TV rights for the highest bidder, count me against it.
