Hi chaps, I am a new poster on here. I hope everyone is well!!

Anyway, i thought I would come on here and share my thoughts on the new codeys game! I am using xbox 360.

Me and the lads recently wondered what it would be like to play the new 3rd person cam in batting mode without any HUD assistance..

Well, after a few overs of playing and missing and a some outs, we soon got the timing.

Now what do we have? We have as close to a batting simulation you will ever get in a computer game. Seriously, give it a try. I can't actually go back to batting with the viticule or map help. Its sucha rewarding experience. I have hit a few fifties and a ton in medium in test matches. You have a proper contest with each bowler now and it really does look like they made the game with this in mind.

Test match run rates are around 4 per over and it makes for a very realistic experience! I have started playing T20 games in this mode now as well. And now you have a proper game of cricket on your hands! You have to play your batsmen in, wait for the bad balls and make sure you use your overs up. in 4 IPL matches (again, on medium..) I have scored one +200, a couple of innings in the 150 region, and also got bowled out for 102. The pitch is a lot more important in this version. A really good test. I will be moving up to test matches on hard soon. Patience will be the only way forward due to the small window you have for middling the ball.

I can't recommend this way of batting high enough. IC210 was a new game. Take all the HUDs off and all of a sudden, the game has taken on a completely new dimension..!

Let me know on this thread how you find it.. And stick with it. It takes a little bit of practise, but once you get the hand of it, you wont want to go back!!

Will the above solution solve the wrong footwork and yorker hook/pull problem? No it won't. It will still ruin the fun for me at least. Anyways good suggestions. I will try it out.

Hi there

When batting with no HUD, are you able to pick the line and length of delivery up, decide whether to play a defensive, attacking or 6 hit shot and then decide the shot direction all once ball has left bowlers hand?

Because I cannot (I play on hard) and therefore do not enjoy the experience. Its all premeditated for me with no HUD

it's as if codies are making a fool of us.will a patch be realeased this time?cuz mr. smith had said in the interview that if this game needs a patch than they will make it.still if the don't make a patch than codies are the biggest liars in the world & i will never buy another game from them. i see their reputation going down by the minute just like activision.my ashes copy was better than this international bullshit

Yeah. you can pick the line and length up, but its like batting for real. You have to get used to it. Also, the bowlers tend to bowl in bunches. So you will find they will try bowling in a particular spot. Although you need to watch out for yorkers if you are assuming a line and length of delivery.

I just won my first test match this afternoon on hard. Bowled the windies out for 112, then got bowled out for 172. Again, bowled them for just over 100 and was set 62 to win. won by 5 wickets.

If you aren't patient, you'll be skittled out very quickly on hard.

I would practise without the hud on medium. Its a good challenge to begin with and when you feel ready, move up to hard.
Also, don't use front and backfoot at first, let the auto kick in, that way you are just worrying about the timing and direction..

I can't imagine it being that much fun playing with no hud on hard. You would probably play the same few shots over and over again as it would be impossible to have enough time to read the ball out of the hand. I don't know how much more reaction time you get on normal, so can't comment on that.

I'd love to see a screen capture/video of you playing with no hud. :)

Give it a go mate, you'll find a whole different game in there..

Practise on medium at first. Then, when you have the timing, go for hard. Its the most realistic test match experience you'll ever get in a computer game. Its a cricket fan's dream!

Just out of interest, did you join up just to tell us about this? Do you work for Trickster PR by any chance? :p

Haha! No, i joined the forum today looking for player names to edit. and I thought i would mention this. I wish I worked for trickstar!!

I see there is some negativity on here regarding the game. yeah, cutting yorkers etc needs to be fixed. And I have never played online, so no idea what thats like..

If you and 3 or 4 mates set up a game though, go for one player, nominate a top 4 batsmen and try and set a decent total.. getting out is even more gutting that way..!

After all the negatives posted, Trickstar and Codies should read and take note and get making a patch or they deserve to be carted round to the parking lot and shot. And make bowling on Normal harder! Carting out teams for under 100 in a 50 over game is ridiculous. Fix these and we have a great game on our hands.

You forget to mention whether to play defensive attacking or 6 hit as well - on hard - especially against fast bowling you simply have no time to do all this unlike real cricket imo

Yeah. you can pick the line and length up, but its like batting for real. You have to get used to it.

I've played HUD Off on both Medium and Hard, a lot (completed at least 5 T20s and mucked around in Test mode for a few days with HUD off). No improvement in the ability to pick up line and length. Can't do it out of the bowler's hand, and the marker appears too late.

Don't get me wrong; I can score with HUD off. I just don't enjoy it. If you decide to play in the V, you can put up some decent scores, but its all pre-determined. Not the way you play the actual game.

I'd like to be able to play a leg glance, a late cut, a square drive - on the merit of the delivery. In real life, you get a fraction of a second to process visual and circumstancial cues, make a shot selection decision and put everything else in motion, but you DO get that time. HUD off doesn't provide that.

Just an FYI,

Gougie and I played a no HUD match online. It was tough at first but as soon as the batsmen were bold it was the same ol same ol. Sixes galore.
