Global Divisions Championship|Message to managers

Hopefully will get the rest of the write-ups done over the next two days and then it's on with the rest of the season

^ Will try. Apologies for the delay. I have been more tied up then I thought I would be and it looks set to stay that way for the next few days. Will try to restart the league ASAP and will contact all league managers when the league restarts

Notice to all managers:

The league has restarted

I'll complete the write-ups later when I have a bit more time

The Story So Far

Unlucky sums it up. On the verge of victory against Asics, they managed to fluff it and lose 6 points and in their loss against Puma the following round, they allowed the opposition to score 301, missing out on a bonus point by 2 runs. Following that up with a performance so close to victory against Reebok but alas, they fell away in the second innings gifting victory to their opposition. They have yet to try and change tack and change up their side but possibly with good reason. They have been on the edge of great performances and have been one piece of good luck away from winning a lot of their games. Therefore they find themselves lounging at 4th, with no conceivable threat from 5th place Adidas but still with a real chance of grabbing the title, but it will go down to the wire.

From positions of strength, things have slipped through Nike's fingers

The High Point

Round 1. The first game of the season. Nike picked up from their first warm-up game and were dominating, arguably better than Asics looked at the start of the season. Adidas stood no chance as they began their slow road to disaster but things wouldn't really get much better for Nike. They were clinical, and everyone sat up and took notice. Sadly it wouldn't last long.

test-cricket-match.jpg

Smiles all too quickly became frowns but Nike have not lost their integrity and team spirit

The Low Point

Round 2. A chance to extend a lead at the top. Requiring 1 to win, Tsotosobe, and Nike, was found wanting and the game ended in a dramatic yet undeserving tie. A smack in the face for Nike from where they would never get up again. However not to say they haven't still played well and are recovering but they need to get their heads down now. However, how different the table would have looked: teams would still be in the same positions but teams in positions 1-4 would be tightly packed by a only a handful of points.

Gambhir was dejected after his team came so close

The Big Gun

2 players worth a mention. Anderson and Tendulkar. Wickets and Runs. Big Wickets and Big Runs. Both have been key and both will continue to be instrumental when Nike mount their charge for the title. Both can take their respective individual title at the end of the tournament but for both that will not suffice. They will want the grand prize: The ITC title. With these two firing however, it's more then just a dream.

Sachin-Tendulkar--006.jpg

For both these players the hard work starts now

The Big Flop

Mark Boucher or Paul Collingwood. Both have managed to keep Virat Kohli (who fired in one of the warm-up games) out of the side whilst maintaining their own averages of only 9.2 and 12.7 respectively. What is going on?

Kohli has been forced to watch from the sidelines despite his effort in the first warm-up game

What To Expect

A team with lots of potential and everything still to play for. They will be keen for revenge and have what is, on paper, arguably the strongest squad. However they know that they need to eradicate those small mistakes which have turned joy into disaster but have the experience of losing from winning positions and will be keen to rectify those mistakes by winning all of their remaining games. They have possible the best schedule with the break at the best point for them so that if things don't go well they can re-group and still have enough games to mount a charge. Gambhir looks to be crumbling under the pressure of captaincy but that is probably most likely down to the bad luck as up until Round 2 he was coping well under the stress of captaincy. They look like the team that can finish anywhere at the moment and the team that has been just bubbling under. A team so close and yet so far. The lid could be blown off and they could explode into life with a vast array of talent once pitches become more bowler-friendly and give a more even contest.

Virender+Sehwag+Australia+Training+Session+MWy_XxSkwHBl.jpg

Nike must continue to work hard as once things click they can become unstoppable

Would you bet on them to win? They're outsiders but are overdue bucket-loads of good luck

Round 6 results coming up when I can, life's pretty hectic for the next few days
