Karthikeyan did quite a good mod job on his Jordan...couldn't believe how slow the marshall's were to get to a car that was on fire!

sick and why didn't they use a road sweeper for his crash? Be much quicker, Santa Pod uses one and it's poor comparitively.

Well done Fernando.

Don't know. Overall the marshall's weren't at their best. They weren't exactly quick to see what they could do about the drain cover even after a few laps behind the safety car.

it mighta been narain's last race of his career, wat a way to end his career..

Nah, he'll get another drive as he's a big advertising sign. Not in F1 though.

Interesting idea coming from the FIA today, a new rear wing going by the name of Centreline Downwash Generating (CDG) wing. More information can be found on www.itv.com/f1 or to get to the article click here.

The changes to take place over the next 2 years are as follows:
1. Tyre changes to be reintroduced for 2006.

2. Qualifying given major shake up for 2006
- 2 initial 15 minute 'knockout' qualifying sessions will take place
- The top 10 from the 2 sessions will go into a 20 minute open session to fight for pole.

3. New CDG wing to be introduced for 2007. The wing is designed to reduce 'dirty air' behind the car to allow closer racing and encourage overtaking.

I'm pretty happy with all of the changes to be honest. Never liked the 1 lap format, there was just no build up to the end of session shoot out we use to have before 2003. Opinions anyone?

Sounds very very promising! The main thing is that tyre changes are back, which atleast means that we will have close racing through out a race. What I still seem to think is that although the 'CDG' wing is a very good idea, I feel that without the teams being hounded by the FIA they could come up with something better.

P.S. That wing looks downright ugly!

I think bringing back tyre changes is a must, I would like to see drivers being able to mix different compounds, this really brings out some skill in driving the car as well as setting it up.
As for the proposed rear wing, I think its a non-starter, firstly for monetary reasons. Sponsors spend vast amounts to have their name of the back wing and I cant see it being a popular decision with teams if they face a potential loss of sponsorship especially with the (almost) demise of tobacco money (Except the discraceful decision by ferrari). Surley a similar effect can be obtained by reducing the amount of silly little winglets and simplifing the design of the rear wing to perhaps a single element, also underchassis design could be altered to provide more grip. Removing the stupid wooden plank would be a start!

I agree with you Justin, the wing is ugly, F1 cars should also look pleasing to the eye as well as being functional.

Return to slick tyres too perhaps? Having said that, with the way tyre technology has moved on, I don't know how much difference this would make. Whats the decision that Ferrari have made, guess i've missed something?

Yes, bring back slicks, I believe this is planned anyway, the whole idea of grooved tyres was to force manufacturers into making harder compounds as the idea was a measurable groove had to be left on the tyre after the tyres had been used, this seems to have not been the case in recent years especially with the no tyre change rule, cars were finishing the race with virtually bald tyres anyway.

As for the ferrari decision I mentioned is the fact they have extended their sponsorship deal with Marlboro (not only in years but also in amount, I belive the vodaphone sponsorship will diminish or go all together).

hmm, we've just had the best year of F1 for godness knows how long so why change it?

Eh?

It would take a freak accident to kill someone in a formula one car. Even a 190MPH crash at Monaco odds on he would survive.

I'd guess he means the tyres, where there has been so many tyre failures/delaminations, due to the one tyre rule.

Good by recent standards, yes but this was probably down to the ferrari not being a great car. Also pretty poor compared to the 80's and 90's.

Everyone thinks of Kimi at (Spa iirc) but he caused it himself by driving poorly. Smooth drivers like DC it's not a problem for.
