No refuelling. Good or bad?

If you're capping everyone to Super Aguri's budget you might as well turn F1 into the 'GP1' series, because it would remove all of the things that make F1, well F1.

I think things need to be changed, because to be frank Super Agurri are so far behind anyone else bar Midland F1, they are a danger to other drivers imo, although nto so bad since Ide went.

Yeh I agree Sureshot they are a hazard when the leader is trying to lap them. Hopefully the Midland will get bought out and have money pumped in to them so they won't lag as much :)

If they want the smaller teams to catch up what they need to do is leave things the same, not keep changing them. The smaller teams will eventually make their cars competative it just takes longer for them to get there. Changes to the rules just give the bigger teams an even bigger stronghold as they have the manpower and the money to throw at the new regulation changes. Capping budgets wont work either as the rich teams will find ways around the cap by maybe developing parts on a car not raced in F1 then translating the parts onto f1 cars later

That wouldn't work though Kev as no other racing car is like the F1 cars, you could say A1 and GP2 but they are slower, and have much less grip through the tyres.

It wouldnt have to be for an existing series though, they could just make an f1 car in all but name, just never race it. The likes of Ferrari, Toyota, McLaren generate so much money what do you expect they will do with it? Spend it on the christmas party??

I just wonder whether the teams like Honda, Ferrari and Toyota gets money for supplying engines and stuffs to other smaller teams like Red Bull , Super Aguri and Midland?

I'm pretty sure Super Aguri dont pay for their engines but I'm not sure if the others do or not.

What's the reason do you think is for Super Aguri not paying for their engines?

Are Honda so generous?:D

Its basically a Honda B team thats why. Midland are probably customers but Red Bull might have a works engine deal.

If it wasn't for Honda, Super Aguri would probably be a further 5 seconds off pace... To be fair, so far only Sato has kept that car well in a sort of respective place, non of his team mates have come close to matching him yet.

Midland sold to someone else? Why, they already have a millionaire pumping cash in, they could be compared to Chelsea, except Midland aren't going anywhere fast.

I would have to agree with Kev on the changes thing, if they want to make changes, they must get their list done and keep those changes going for the long run, because the costs of redeveloping everything each year for the small teams becomes astronomical. But for F1 to have passing 'enabled' as such, changes just have to be made to the aero rules, but not after each season either.

But you'd want a brand new part to have been tested in a race situation though, or at least in practice.

Well how do you think they do their testing now? Most parts will be tested extensively by computer modeling and in windtunnels before getting anywhere near a car, then they will be tested in a test session. A team has to be in a fair bit of trouble to put an untested part straight on a car these days. Besides Ferrari own their own circuit and can run endlessly around that if they wanted to. Mclaren also own a race circuit although it isnt currently used to test F1 cars but they could easily rent one. These guys are a lot more creative than me, I'm sure they will find a way to get around a cap.
