Group B - 9th Match Netherslands v Pakistan

If Holland were to cause an upset I would say it would be over Pakistan who are still a very hot and cold team.

Perhaps Holland will beat both of them, but I'm very confindent Holland will beat England. They didn't look that great yesterday by the sounds of it.

They looked a lot better today though. Bowling was decent enough while their batting blitzed the Windies bowling. Pakistan were pretty average again.

I didn't understand why Arafat started as the opening bowler in the warm-up against India. Gul and Tanvir should open the bowling. Pakistan can win a tournament and next day lose against a minnow. That's how consistent they are. Afridi should come as opener or late in the overs. Coming in the middle overs is no use. Most likely he needs to come in the last overs.

Misbah-ul-Haq is Mr. Twenty20, so I am expecting that he will need to save Pakistan in some tough situations again.

Luke Wright got once in a time a good innings. He actually got it at the right, which probably has earned a fixed place as an opener. Personally I feel Key should open.

Netherlands are expecting a lot from ten Doeschate and Nannes, but so far they haven't shown their skills in the warm-up matches.

ZexyZahid added 15 Minutes and 22 Seconds later...

Maybe you guys didn't notice this, but the whole weekend and also the Monday can be affected by rain! Check out the weather prediction: Fixtures, Schedule | ICC World Twenty20 2009 | Cricinfo.com

I expect an upset in this group. The Dutch would beat one team, but I can't put my money on which team would that be.

What XI do you reckon England will go in with today then? I can see us going with:

1. Ravi Bopara
2. Luke Wright (I wouldn't put him there personally, but he did a fantastic job in the last game)
3. Kevin Pietersen
4. Owais Shah
5. Eoin Morgan
6. Paul Collingwood
7. Dimitri Mascheranas
8. James Foster +
9. Graeme Swann
10. Stuart Broad
11. James Anderson/Ryan Sidebottom

Going to be tough to include Anderson and Sidebottom, without weakening the batting line-up. We could see Morgan dropping out, with Sidebottom coming in for him, which would give us 5 frontline bowling options, but I would like to see Morgan in the side. If Morgan does play then it means we'll need 4 overs from a mix of Collingwood, Wright, Pietersen and Bopara. Not sure which way they'll go.

I thought Luke Wright was a bowler in 20/20 cricket, obv batting is his main trade but his bowling against NZ was very good. He bowls at a decent pace and gets it in the block hole. For England to even stand a chance here :D they will need to play the extra batsmen.

I would go with that team with Jimmy playing. Sidey has just been out of it too long and I would take Anderson over him any day

England will (hopefully and should) kick start the opening match with a big win..

Just few hours remaining for the big international event ...

Well don't know why but I feel that Dimi probably would miss today's match. It would be safe to go with Ryan and Anderson both. I think batting line is pretty secure as Bopara and Luke are in good touch. Addition of extra seamer would surely be good gamble under lights.

I highly, highly doubt the lights will take effect.

Hmm, not too sure personally. I'd love to have them both in the side. Sidebottom's been excellent in the warm-ups. Has been back bowling at a decent pace (upwards of 86mph) and has been bowling superbly at the death, far better than Broad's policy of bowling round the wicket and angling the ball across. He's been bowling proper yorkers, and been bowling them really well. I'd be tempted to drop Dimi actually.

So Sidebottoms back in your good books.

Sorry, but absolutely no atmosphere before the game at the moment. An opening ceremony in an empty ground would be a total farce.
More reason why the ICC have messed it up. England v Pakistan would`ve been a perfect lung-opener.
