World Cup Group B - Pool Matches Discussion Thread

Brisbane has already completed all its games in this World Cup. The three QF's for Australia are in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide. The one semifinal in Australia is at Sydney. Also according to this Cricinfo Groups page, Australia have already been assigned to Adelaide (March 20th) for their quarterfinal regardless of where they finish in Pool A. And they will play in Sydney if they qualify for the semifinal - ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 | ESPN Cricinfo

Let India first cross the QF stage. I am interested in seeing who our potential quarterfinalist will be. Even a single slip up for us in the remaining 3 league games could potentially push us down to No.2 in the group (seeing the way SA are blanking out other sides). In that case, we will most likely play Sri Lanka in the quarterfinal at SCG on March 18th. If we finish at the top of Group B, we will play England or Bangladesh at the MCG on March 19th

Ok so if its AUS vs IND in the semi then we will have to play AUS in Sydney. That is much better I think even though a win is not guaranteed but I think we would have a great shot on the Sydney pitch against them. I would even think about going in with three regular spinners, Jadeja Ashwin and Axar. Let's not worry about that till we get there though. Also, I would rather have India play England in the quarterfinal because I want to see Kohli destroy Anderson to all parts of the ground. If we remain undefeated in the group stage then I see us going all the way to the final. Also, the SL and AUS game should be really interesting because it is in Sydney. If SL wins then we could possibly be looking at a semi between Ind and SL.

I have this worry that this Kohli incident could potentially threaten the positive energy of the dressing room. It was totally unwarranted for Kohli to get into an issue like that especially when the team is bubbling with rare infectious positive energy after three resounding wins (two of which against big sides like Pakistan and South Africa). If India fail to reach the final here, the finger pointing at Kohli could get big.

I beg to differ, Kholi is a class act if anything he will thrive on this and I think the relationship amongst the team is strong enough to withstand this. The worrying factor is the rumoured Kholi-Dhoni spat, any of you guys confirmed if this is true?

I think that the only guy it could affect is Kohli, but I doubt it. He's a great player and great players feed on these sort of things. However, it could affect his mental state for this next game but I think he should be back among the runs after a game or two at the most.[DOUBLEPOST=1425509198][/DOUBLEPOST]

I don't think there is a spat between Kohli and Dhoni. Both of them have good respect for each other and it can be seen on the field as well.

India vs WI today. Let me start the procession by saying how badly we are going to lose to the Windies. We just don't have the ability to counter their tall, quick bowlers on a Perth wicket. And with Gayle and co. in form, I think this is going to be a very one sided affair. India's first loss of the cup on the cards today, and its surprising how this average team hasn't lost a game yet. I guess we all get lucky once in a while

I am hoping same, would be interesting if they play Roach for Benn, hard call. If the WI pacers are on mark they can definitely be a handful, MSD and Kholi are the only ones capable of putting up a good score. Historically Gayle has made a big score and turn up with low scores after, what the Indians have to be wary of is Ramdin/Simmons if they negotiate the Ashwin/Jadega well we may just be with India's first loss.

Hoping the west indies can pull it of here....

Marlon Samuels has been a major thorn for us. Most often, he scores against India. I am not scared about Gayle because he is a "blow hot once in 10 times" guy. Him and Dwayne Smith could be the pricks for us. And with the mauling that their bowlers received against SA, worryingly for India it could be time for these guys to show the other side of their inconsistency by bowling really well against us.

I too predict India's first defeat in this tournament today. And that will very likely lead to defeats against Ireland and Zimbabwe today. I don't think India will make it to the quarterfinals.

I think even if we make it to QFs, we will be facing up Australia and we all know how that's going to go.

WI is in such a form that they can destroy any attack atm. On the other hand india having terible bowling attack which wont help us either. On Perth wicket I can see Indian batsmans surrendering weapons and Not able to score 200.

So as you guys predicted I too think this will be our 1st defeat and this will certainly break our confidence .It will be very difficult to win against Ireland and Zimbabwe more likely a defeat. I dont know how we won 3 matches so convincingly with this mediocre side under the Captaincy of MSD who is just a one match wonder and scores good runs once a year.

Am I dreaming? Someone pinch me!

Cant see India being defeated by Zim or Ireland the likes of Kholi and MSD wouldnt let two upsets occur in sucession, even if India loss to the Windies later, which they will, theyre still gonna make the quarters, personally think they will play SL and that match can go either ways but we will discuss that when the qf spots are finalised.

It is more likely that we will see India not making into QFs.

^^OMG  . I think I was drunk when I said [HASHTAG]#wewontgiveitback[/HASHTAG]. We will definitely give it to either NZ or SA.
How I can expect this team to reach that far.
