World Cup Group B - Pool Matches Discussion Thread

I hope it's not raining tomorrow, I have tickets to the Pakistan-SA game :/

I hope India win the competition and then they all become PlanetCricket members and berate all you sour, negative fans!

To play 4 matches and only have one team make over 200 against you is not just batters throwing their wickets away. Run Rate, Scoreboard pressure etc. all play a part in batsmen making bad decisions, and this is mainly down to the efforts of the bowlers.

Your team are winning for goodness sake!

Yeah I am done with all the pessimists out here tbh. After the tri series the way this team has turned it around is amazing! There is fire within the players, the bowlers run in while bowling, the fielders put in everything they can, the batters run way better in between the wickets. I am really happy to see Indian team do well in this WC especially as I never gave them a chance after how badly they performed in the tri series and when we were opening the bowling with Stuart Binny in the warmups.

Bang on the money. I thought India would get battered after the tri-series, but they've done very well.

3 down already total lack of application from kohli. raina is a walking wicket against short stuff

Thats really funny....When we support India and tell truth you guys bring in stuffs like Flat track bullies, a probable WC champions (SA) becomes a Mediocre side after loosing to Us. Big 3, BCCI bought every single team to win the trophy in 2011 and 1983 WC final was fixed. You guys were so terrible that you said our bowlers didnt do much it was the batsmen fault.

When we started supporting u guys , the reverse process worked and then You guys said stop Being Negative.

I think you guys have to stop being double standards and Accept the truth.

@Untouchables666 666 seems to be the Upgraded version of 007, you know very deeply about Fixing, fights between Players.

Can't understand Holder's tactics. When guys like Taylor, Roach and himself have overs left, why would he keep bowling part-timers like Samuels and Smith? They basically gifted India the match in the end.

That and what was the need to make Smith bowl. He has not bowled for ages now. Sammy would have been a far better option.

We made a match out of nowhere and then lost it when it was the time to press. Roach and Taylor would have kept them on their toes. Maybe we could have won from the point when the sixth wicket fell.

tight game, good to see MSD back to last man standing mode, the guy literally needs the pressure to perform and feeds of it! Kudos to ashwin to for keeping cool!

Positives : Great bowling upfront by Shami and yadav, though they failed to keep it tight against holder letting him score was a crime but really good job nonetheless!

Wake up call for top order so that they dont get complacent, bit too many extras and dropped catches for my liking, good time in the middle for MSD though!

Holder captaincy was baffling in the end though especially during the last 20 odd runs bowling samuels and smith!
Great win overall for india!

The world wide web buddy, information abounds!

I am not sure what impetus Curtly Ambrose has had on this team but to me Taylor and Roach are still making simple mistakes, they are bowling okay but they have been in the game a while now and still so much potential has not been realised.

Cant blame Holder's tactics here at all, he is an inexperienced captain leading a team with batsmen playing reckless shots like that would undo anyone in his position.

India seem to have gone in this match too relaxed hence the game looked closer than it really should have been, form is temporary but class is permanent, hopefully India's form will run out before the finals!

A good test that India got today and our batting didn't look upto the mark! We might need this test if we ever play at Eden Park, Auckland where Australia and NZ played out that low scoring classic. On pitches like this, Dhoni should bat Rahane at the top ahead of either Rohit or Dhawan. Likely in place of Dhawan. You need solid technically sound guys at the top when the conditions are challenging.

Happy that Dhoni got a good workover with the bat. His solidity in ODI's when things go wrong is always valuable. Very good work from our bowlers, but I wish we could have got WI for even lower (after we had them for 88-7). We still need the "death bowling" test in one of the two upcoming games.

I dont think it made a difference really either way the West Indies never had enough runs on the board to tackle the Indian batting lineup.

Taylor, Roach and Holder had more than 5 overs left among them. Had even one of them bowled in place of the dibbly dobblies that Smith bowled, this game could have gone a lot closer. When the 6th wicket fell, India still needed 40 odd runs with only 4 wkts left. As a decent bowling/fielding side, that's more than defendable.

Holder's inexperienced captaincy showed clearly. On a pitch like this, he bowls Samuels that too right immediately in the first over of batting PP. Samuels is not going to trouble the Indian batsmen, including the likes of Shami and Yadav. What could he do to Dhoni and Ashwin?
