World Cup Group B - Pool Matches Discussion Thread

Had Williams not walked off the ground, he would have still batted and the game might have ended differently.
Yeah you're probably right.

You can blame the umpires but you certainly can't blame Mooney. Anyhow looks like, despite beating two full members, Ireland will go out on NRR. England of course can scrape though by beating one (and the lowest ranked) full member.

I know the latter is irrelevant now but Ireland still have a chance at this: it depends on whether they get the good Pakistan that beat South Africa or the bad Pakistan that lost to the West Indies.

The dhol in the background (probably being played by the Indian fans) is so so annoying. Its pretty loud out here in the broadcast.:mad

Have a feeling India's bowling will be tested out hard today.

India looking pretty mediocre today on a flat pitch. Pretty worrying signs that our bowling has finally started looking the "India of old".

Again, it has been Ashwin being good but the rest of the bowlers have acted like we don't need a win anymore to win this WC.

^Nope. Ireland are batting well, seriously.[DOUBLEPOST=1425958333][/DOUBLEPOST]

They used to. Please set a 300 plus target, team professional.

50/50, thats something we rarely see with Indian bowlers. 260 should be easy one but if we loose couple of early wickets say like 3 or 4 then it could get interesting. Hoping Irish win today just to see another smaller nation rise upto the occasion. Go Ireland :D

That post match interview of Ashwin heavily reminded me of Rahul Dravid. That smooth English accent, that vibrant and confident body language. Dravid was a delight to listen to when he talks, and Ashwin seems of the same mould. In fact, most of Dravid's era of cricketers (Dravid, Kumble, Ganguly, Tendulkar, Laxman) were very good speakers. Laxman was the weakest, followed by Tendulkar who spoke well but had a very jerky style of speaking.

On the game, must say Ireland fell 40-50 runs short, seeing the position they were in at 40th over. This looks like a 300 pitch. But they will be bowling under lights and they have a more seam friendly attack. India should definitely be challenged here and who knows what can happen.

Dhoni will join Clive Lloyd as 9 consecutive wins in WCs behind Ponting (24 wins). :)

What are the chances of Ireland after loosing to India to make it to Quarter finals. I admired this Ireland team's professionalism and love for the game .I really want them to make it to semifinals .Does it depend on NRR or face off matches that Ireland won against WI ?
