Help making stumps

Guys i was wondering u have to make stumps in 256 colors but when i change it to 256 colors the colors looses and as with u guys it doesnt can someone tell me wat to do so the color doesnt changes?????????? :helpme:

Make sure you chose 'local preceptual' (in photoshop) when saving. There is a kit making tutorial by Tom Hicks that explains the formatting required.

ok but i dont have photoshop cant i make them in paint

Not unless you want to lose colour. You can download a trial version of photoshop from adobe.com
