How are you doing in ICC? (any version)

One thing that I find. Is the OD specialists. I have a couple of bowlers in my ODI side who average very low (one is 16, other is 22). Yet they have FC averages in the high 30s! I'm not complaining though, I was struggling quite hard with finding ODI bowlers.

I find that a lot of the useless all rounders I get seem to be useful in ODI, I guess it's just easier to take wickets for some.

A real life example would be Nathan Bracken, although not as drastic as you mentioned, his FC is in the low 30's.

Esp in southafrican team
There are so many allrounders except for kallis, imrankhan and one or two more all others are useless

I was busy skipping through games on ICC III while I was building a team and the openers made a 507 partnership before declaring. Evidently they'd decided that that was enough for them and there was no point being greedy, lol. I think I'd have encouraged them to bat on a little longer had I been calling the shots there.

I've recently gone back to ICC 2006 and started a game as Kent. Am top of the Championship and top of the FP Trophy group. Unbeaten in 7-8 games and playing some great cricket, Rob Key is averaging over 100 in FC cricket, Matt Walker has a double hundred, as does David Fulton. Just a shame that Joe Denly's struggled so far, has a couple of 50's to his name though.

Even I started the season with Kent and R.Key scored 195 in the very 1st innings

Kent + Key = Class.

He's averaging about 80 in my seldom played file.

Aye, Kent are awesome. Joe Denly is brilliant at setting the tone in One Day cricket at the top of the order, is just struggling to find the consistency though. He did make 2 nice scores in a Championship win against Hampshire, with a 72 in the first innings, and a match winning 95 in the 2nd innings. The 95 came off 112 balls as well, so a very handy innings, just a shame he's been unable to make a FC hundred. He's batting at 3, less pressure and allows Fulton and Key to build the innings.

This game is bizarre. My brilliant regen keeper can't get a look in with England despite a season average of 65, (simply because Prior manages to average 50 be being not out a lot).

Yet my regen bowler who averages just over 30 has gone into the team in NZ and done brilliantly and has an England contract for the new season.

England selection is pretty ridiculous in my game file too, they have some 40+ keepers yet the pick one averaging 30. They have 5 45+ batsmen, and two 50+ batsmen but only one of those 7 has a test cap. They have a guy who has taken 1077 wickets at 15 yet is uncapped while players averaging in the low 20's get first pick.

Stat's aren't everything though. Some of my best test players didn't have amazing FC stats. I think the game uses the internal skill ratings to choose players.

That's true, but the game is essentially a simulator, and simulators are run by statistics.

Kent rocks

Hall is my leading run getter this season
K.Jones is a great find too,the eighteen yer old is a revelation averaging above 60 in FC and over 50 in od,with a SR of 120 in T20s
R.joseph and saggers are the leading bowlers
Robert Key isnt consistent at all but plays well @ no.1 in FC and @ no.6 in ODs

In my fifth season with Hants. Last year won everything except Pro40, came 2nd. Just wrote off the first 2 seasons. By the time the third comes around I find that you can have picked up some decent youth players. I have 6 players in the England side, 3 are youth players.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have found bowling to be the key. Very hard to get decent bowlers. Only two I have are youth players. You need to give youth a chance and full training quotas need to be applied to get them any good. They are cheap though and the way to go I think. Don't write off youth players too early though. I try weening them in via the Twenty20 or the Pro40
