How are you doing in ICC? (any version)

I'm on my 3rd Season with Middlesex on ICC 2005.

The twenty20 cup has just finished, where the following things happened:

1. I won my first group match, against Hampshire at the Rose Bowl.

2. In the second match, local arch-rivals Surrey came to Lord's.....and hammered us by 86 runs.

3. Lost to Kent at Canterbury in the third match, thanks to the Kent seamers, grey clouds and a green pitch.

4. Next, in a do-or-die match at the Oval, we turned the tables on Surrey, beating them by 9 runs.

5. We won our last four group matches, finishing level on points with Surrey (must have been very irritating for them).

6. Having seen off Worcestershire and Durham, we were through to the final, which was to be held at........the Oval, against (guess who?)..........Surrey.

7. In the final, Surrey batted first and scored 128. When we batted, the required run-rate climbed to 9.4/over, with 7 overs to go, but Owais Shah and Ed Smith saw us home.

We won the trophy, against Surrey, in their own backyard!

There were lots of batsmen averaging above 50.. and games went high scoring..... but since then... it has been a bowlers era throughout.. There have been lots of bowlers averaging under 15 throughout thr career... In almost all teams.. with the best bowlers in the world averaging close to 11.... Also the par score In ODI's has been 200-225...... This has been the trend for the past 200 years.. I am close to yr 2300 AD now... Top 10 bowlers in ratings have been above 900 points... whereas a batsman with with just 800 ratings point would become number 1... and by some margin... I wonder if the bowlers era would arrive in real cricket too....

I'm in about 2120 now, and batsmen are still ruling the roost, for about 50 years spin bowlers were king. I could hardly find one pace bowler worth having, then for the past 30 yars pace bowlers is all I get. I can't even get one decent spinner from any side worht putting in the England side. I have a24 man squad, 6 "RF" bowlers, all averaging under 20.
50 years ago I had 4 spinners averaging under 17 in FC cricket (one took 1013 test wickets at 17.4 if memory serves).

I think the game goes in different directions, and seems to have "trends" maybe success in one area leads to "copycat" players. I did spend years hunting for good pace bowlers when spinners were on top, and maybe this is the eventual outcome.

Decent allrounders who are worth their place as one discipline or another never occur. I put an allrounder or two in one day games for balance, but for FC, i have never come across a single allrounder who was within 10 batting or bowling points of a specialist. I get allrounders who bat test in the low 40's and bowl in the high 20's - I suppose this sounds goo compared to real life now, but in ICC to play them I have to replace a batter with a test average over 60 or a bowler with an average of under 20...in the long versions of the game, I have found far more consistent results by dispensing with the allrounders all together.

Allrounders who are worth there place by right in one discipline should be available, Kallis, Dhoni, Flintoff (when fit),Gilchrist,McCullum...are all arguably worth a place in 2 disciplines. Gayle, Bravo, Collingwood, Astle, Tendulkar, Jayasiriya, Shewag, Symonds and many many more would play as specialists in one discipline BY RIGHT even if they could contribute nothing in a second discipline.

Since the "real" players left the game (by 2015 or so in ICC2002) I have not seen a single allrounder generated for ANY NATION..or ANY CLUB SIDE for over 100 years who was worth their place on any discipline in the longer version of the game.

I wish this could be fixed. They do occur, they are the players all the kids want to be (So for I haven't mentioned Imran, Kapil, Hadlee or Botham)

True allrounders make a massive difference to the real game, they make up a disproportionate percentage of players who are considered "icons" and "legends" ...

I would love if they could (even very rarely) be reflected in ICC.

A.SUNNY-S.BROAD IN HISTORICAL PARTNERSHIP

I am playing as Surrey and in my 2018 season. For the first time, in my game, one of the partnerships entered into the Historical one.

In brief, my team Surrey got bowled out for 309 in the first innings. Somerset made 346. Trailing by 37 runs my team Surrey slumped to 169/8 in about 60 overs. With still some play of Day3 and the entire last day, I expected defeat. But Sunny-Broad pulled of a miracle as they batted on and on...putting on a record 205 partnership. But finally both fell in quick succession with about 10 minutes left for tea on Day4, thus escaping with a draw. ( 2 Screenshots :- )

REGAINED THE CHALLENGE TROPHY - 2018 SEASON

The last time I won the Challenge Trophy was in 2014...so after a gap of 3 seasons again I regained it.
On seeing the scorecard ( see screenshot) one might get a feeling it was a one-sided match...NOT TO BE...

After being put into bat, my team Surrey slumped to 60/4 in the 19th over. But J.Hoggart and wk H.Buss(promoted ahead of youth batsman Dowland ) put on a 148 partnership...thereby helping to a respectable 253.

Beginning their run chase....Worcs, though lost a wkt of the first ball..were going well...123/3 after 23 overs. Needing 131 in 27 overs....gettable...disaster struck as Hoggart came back to torment them with the ball as well...Two wkts in his first 2 overs...followed by Munday picking 2...they slumped to 134/7..and from thereon it was just a matter of time.

[ Last but not the least, In real life cricket...needing 131 in the last 27 overs...Batsman at the crease would consolidate in the next 12 overs by adding 45-50 runs WITHOUT LOSING FAR TOO MANY WKTS..but here..they were just attacking like anything...thus inviting defeat. ]

After ONE drawn series against NZ, I have been dropped from 1st to 3rd in tests. Since then I've won the last five test series, including the 2025 Ashes, but I still haven't raised up a spot. I did manage to rise two spots to 6th in ODI's though, I actually started playing them rather than skipping XD

Just starting my second season on ICC2006 as Somerset and my Regen Keeper scored 96 and my regen quick bowler took 7 wickets in total. Looks promising so far.

I hear what you say about the Allrounders scrit, the best AR in the country averages 32 with the bat, and 42 with the ball. I've got him playing in ODI's only to increase the batting depth.

I normally don't bother with using allrounders because they don't contribute greatly with bat or ball, I just play bowlers with good averages, say <25 but can also bat, say averages of >20. Though I have had two allround leg spinners. One had a batting average of 50 in FC and bowling of 21, though he did bat 6 and bowl at the tail enders. Another had a batting average of 42 and bowling of 24, and batted 3-5, bowling first or second change.

Better than what I've had.

Year: 2026

Henry Dobson has retired, at age 36. He picked up 1087 wickets at an average just under 24 and picked up 5/120 in his final appearance. Although this has weakened my bowling line up, it gives Scott Street (FC: 28 T: 34) another crack at the national team.

An addition to the team is Belmont (FC:50, T: 28), an impressive 19 year old batsman, who has had an unfortunate start to his career. 3 of his 4 matches were crushing defeats, and he top scored three times despite averaging only 28 in tests. He will be hoping to improve during the Ashes, but it won't be easy against the best bowling attack in the world.

My regen keeper at the start of the second season on ICC2006 has started with 96, and then 128 & 149 in the second game in the CC. Apart from the fact that he seems to like getting out just before a milestone I'm pretty happy. The 149 was even off 180 balls as I chased 400 in the last day.

Got to the WC final with England, lost to Pakistan. I can't beat them in ODIs, have a brilliant bowling attack. However, I plucked for some players before the WC and came away knowing a lot more.

T Adam, 39W at 16, inc. 5-series vs Pakistan before WC. In fact, my whole bowling attack is sorted. Only things i have is picked 2 out of 3 excellent openers, and the form of KP. Who has hit 4 half centuries in 2 years of ODI cricket.

Picked a random batsen who averaged 22 in FC, had played 1 OD game and he was 30. Put him in the ODI side, he got 85 at a great rate and he picked up 3 wickets bowling part time :D other than that my whole side is dominating the world, Michae Mundays approaching his 1000th wicket, the guy is unbelievable although I'm getting tested by Pakistan, 1 up after 3 with 2 to play.

I have the best batting line up, and the second worst bowling line up. I still manage to be 3rd in both Test and ODI ranks though.

My best players are finishing their careers, and talented youth is almost non-existant.
