So, my old save file got deleted. Don't know how. So I started a new career with Surrey. and before beginning the career I went to the Team Management and replaced the Surrey Opening Batsman with my idol, Adam Gilchrist. I am playing as an Indian Batsman at No. 2 position for Surrey. My first class matches were going good, I had scored 2 fifties in 7 innings, and got out in the 40's twice. In my 8th FC innings, I played the game of my life. Nottinghamshire batted first and posted a mammoth 540 after 138.5 overs. We needed to win this game badly, so Gilly took the initial risk and scored a quick-fire 50.
and the 100 partnership came up in 66 balls. We were cruising but some great bowling from Shahzad and Siddle got us rattled. We didn't lose a wicket though and slowly rotated the strike. And I believe what they say is true, if you keep taking singles the opposition gets frustrated and they make a lot of field placing mistakes and on seeing that we both had the opportunities to up our strike rate. Now it was my time to move on. I stopped defending and started playing shots (grounded) and after a few overs I had completed my 50.
Gilchrist followed with his 100 soon after off 66 Balls. From there we just didn't stop, bringing up our 150 Partnership in just 124 Balls, and still going and going to reach 200 partnership off 158 balls. I rarely gave the strike to Adam, I would play two shots in an over, defend three and take a single off the last ball. In no time I had my FIRST FIRST CLASS hundred up
I celebrated my hundred with two back to back sixes. Now I felt that Adam must be given the strike since he had been on the other side for so long. I gave him the strike and he didn't disappoint, hitting three boundaries off Shahzad on the first three balls he faced. When we were on 272, I decided to go for a big straight slog. But what I didn't realize that the bowler had bowled the ball wide of off stump, and without even checking the direction of the ball, I played the shot and it caught an edge. I was devastated to see the point fielder taking the catch. The partnership had ended at 272 , with me getting my highest FC score.
Nevertheless, Gilly and Graeme smith carried on before Gilly got out on 156 (114). It didn't matter, centuries from Z.De Bruyn and S.Davies helped us post 714/10 in 153.5 overs. And we almost came close to winning the match as Nottinghamshire declared their second innings at 230/4.
And at Day 4 with 4 overs remaining we had to chase 57 to win. Unfortunately I got out for a golden duck playing the same shot which got me out in the first innings and we finished on 21/1. Match was drawn but boy this was a great game.
