Nope. That was the best thing about CBSE.

Nah, regional language is always great to have. Very easy to score in it. My school forced me to take up Hindi instead of my regional language (we have such an option in board exams here) when I was in SSC. The reason: I was the lone student from my class who didn't choose Hindi over regional language. Funny thing is I scored 74 in Hindi in board which is the highest I've got in the subject but the best part of my SSC exams was when my Maths teacher's jaw nearly dropped when she saw that I cleared the subject in first division. I've no qualms in saying that I failed in Maths in 2 term exams and 3-3 unit tests and premiums each in Class X. I have always been good at counting but when I see x, y and all, my mind, for some reason, gets blank and you know what? My subsidiary subject in college was Advanced Statistics! :lol

Fenil, you are a Gujarati, so learning your language makes sense. Also, in a city like Bombay there are too many people from all over so learning Marathi isn't much use.

ICSE definitely is the best. But it becomes hell during 9th grade and above, so I switched to CBSE.

I'm not that fluent in my language to be honest. Still fumble at times in choosing the apt words. Probably because I'll studied with most fellas that came down here from out of the state. I have come a long way in learning Hindi though. I've passed the 4th and probably the final exam (not sure if its final one) of a competitive exam called 'Hindi Rashtrabhasha Pariksha' with 90%.

I was in ICSE, and liked it very much. Its not as application based as they say, but definitely better than most other boards. We had exceptional teachers to our plus point. Another thing, I'm not sure, but they say ICSE is internationally recognized now.

now iam currently in 8th std i have following subjects sanskrit , marathi , hindi , maths , science , r.s.p . computer , english , history , civics , geography

Not at all, it's the beginning. I passed 'Praveen Uttardh', the final exam but still can't speak Hindi and that's Indian education system. :spy

Agree with the 'Rashtrabhasha thingy'. I passed my Rashtrabasha exams, but I still suck big time in Hindi.

As for the languages, yes, the CBSE/ ICSE have only Hindi and English. That is understandable given that the boards itself are lodged in the northern part of our country. For the rest of the states, they have made their regional languages compulsary. Likewise in Maharashtra, I had the languages English & Marathi. For the third language, we could choose from amongst
Hindi [100]
Hindi[50]-German[50]
Hindi[50]-Sanskrit[50]

The thing is picking up a foreign language can boost your scores considerably and it also gives you that added advantage too.
