How do you bowl in BLIC 07?

Hi guys,

I'm a newb when it comes to cricket (I used to watch a couple of games way back when I first joined this forum) but since last March I've really gotten into it and now I just got BLIC. So far, I love it except that I have no clue how to bowl properly. I would say that 90% of my wickets comes from bowled or LBW. However, I'm having run rates at 9-10 which is abysmal from what I saw in real life (especially with guys like McGrath). I tend to bowl beamers and yorkers mostly (well only with fast and fast medium guys). And the occasional googly and chinaman with my spinner. Also, the CPU rarely goes more than 10 overs when I play. So basically they're bowled out pretty fast but I would like a more realistic match.

Where should I bowl on the pitch to get more caught wickets and what type of throw do you use? I change the location a lot in the air also.

Thanks!

Yea change the line and length at times, and bowl just outside off stump, with yorkers at times for variation. Yea outswingers, inswingers, the works lol

just concentrate on bowling a good line and lentgh just outside off-stump, varying the movement on the ball and the pace and then you just need to be patient and edge will come at slip...

You may get an edge behind to keeper or slip but catching it is the hard part.

I've only played BLIC for a short time...

Boy, catching is tough. I've not taken a single one so far, so I started to practice in the "net" sessions. Still dropping a lot though. The thing is you can never anticipate a catch at the right moment.

Bowling a lot of yorkers is a good idea in ODI games and swing the ball in or out.

With spin bowlers, vary the length and pace and bowl the "wrong ones" at times. Spinners seem more effective in curtailing runs and in taking wickets.

Thanks for all your answers. :thumbs

Actually, I find catching no so bad but after reading a lot of threads about the best cricket game out there right now, I'm thinking about getting Cricket 04 with all the mods available here. BLIC was just a warm up and now that I understand the real game better, maybe I'll have a better time knowing what to do both as a batman and as a bowler. The thing that really annoys me for BLIC is the attention to graphic details, the numerous commentators, but the complete lack of any graphs whatsoever and the sometimes way too easy batting (I beated the West Indies 623 to 23 with Australia on Village difficulty and on a 50 over ODI!!!) But I still doubt I'm good enough to play online lol.

Anyway thanks guys!

catching is pretty fun. it's a bit of a twitch skill, so casual gamers hate it more than 'pros', but when you take a catch it's a bit of a rush. it was a good idea, just needed to be able to be turned down for noobs.

It is pretty hard. I hate when a really in form batsman nicks it and you drop it or you drop really early and he makes a ton.

Mix it up bowling wise....set offside/onside fields for sloggers.
Bowl in the blockhole with a smidgeon of late swing for LBW's.
Put a fielder at fine/long leg for an easy run reduction.
Bowl really short...with a [hefty] inswing/outswing bias for edges.

A spinners "wrong un" could do the trick.

This is a cricket game...you shouldn't rely on the normal "rules and regulations" of standard tehniques....try something different...and always be ready for edged catch.

As my hero Geoff Boycott might say..."Make the bowler get your wicket...don't give it oooop easily.

And "bowl down the corridor of uncertainty"...only the corridor of uncertainty in this game is open to debate.
