I did it with a mouse...no need of a tablet..

well,I am still very much noob in ZBrush.I have learned only detailing the models,not sculpting but this a very good tutorial for beginners to understand:

You can also go to ZClassroom(Official ZBrush video tutorials) where they cover from basics to high level of sculpting...

yes I went through all Zclassroom tutorials(only for enjoyment) and after that I decided to learn it properly. Zbrush is actually the best too add detailing in characters.

@Aoun: Yes,ZBrush is a powerful tool and best for detailing...There is Mudbox and Cinema4D which are in competition with this software and I think Mudbox is free...
If you want to just learn,Then I will suggest either ZBrush trial or Mudbox...
