Conclusion: Both teams have 12 players. 6 batsmen 4 bowlers
From the statistics, India?s batting lineup is greater. Now, for tests, India?s players played a total of 514 matches to Australia?s 741. Australia beat India in total runs (marginally ?by 2551 runs) scored for tests, BUT, they played 227 more matches!!! AND I excluded an Indian player, so Australia had 12 players for the total tally of runs, while India had one less!! Australia has a very slight higher average for tests, but Yuvraj and Kaif are young, and as they get older, their averages will improve a lot more?
Also Australia had 11 more centuries than India, but both India and Australia had 140 half centuries. Remember Australia played 227 more matches!!

For One Day Internationals India dominates Australia in all aspects!!
They have played the same amount of matches (Australia has played just 5 more)
But India completely trash them in runs scored with India scoring 12,433 more runs than Australia!! The averages are close, but India wins in that department also having a 30.35 average to Australia?s 29.59 (yes it?s very close) But India has a lot of young rising stars, with pretty good averages, only waiting to get a lot better. Australia has played 5 more games, but India has 43 more centuries and 76 more half centuries!

In the end, In test matches the batting lineup?s are close, there is no clear winner, but the edge has to go to India.

In ODI?s There is no contest, India has a superior batting lineup.

The stats don?t show everything, but they?re a huge part of it!!

Yes I completely agree with you but the Australian line up has played well when most needed while Indian batting sucked at crucial points. So australian batsmen can handle more pressure then Indians and thats why they are the best team ever that has played in the history.

No more arguments please. It will only lead to headeche.

India batting lineup is good.
Australia batting lineup is good.

Ok happy

I agree somewhat, but one crucial reasons why Australia is so dominant is because of their superb bowling and fielding. They have one of the best bowling attacks in the world, if not the best, and their fielding is extraordinary. It's not just the batting.

...But, in another thread most people were saying how the australian batting line up is more talented and alot better than India's. Those statements are completely false, I have proved it. Im sorry guys, but stats dont lie...

P.S. -The Great West Indian team of the 80's was better than what australia is now

It's about india playing bunnies and australia bowling teams out for 150, so they only need to chase that. in most test matches the aussies play they only bat once. Oh and excluding an indian player so he didn't bring down the total average for the team was smart, but if you omitted mcgrath from the aussie team, then there averages would be better.

no, i could have added chopra, ghambir, and the average would go up. I counted Nehra, his avergae is almost as bad as McGrath's.

Its funny how people find excuses for everything.

STATS DONT LIE

Wouldn't a lot of India's stats be beefed up by playing Zim and Bangladesh

I mean that statement is so vast...All teams play zimbabwe and bangladesh...

If you want to know which batsmen or bowlers are the best between these countries try to find the stats of the matches where Australia played against India only and show these statistics here.

Yes every team does but look at Murali. I don't know how many games he has played against them but he has 100 wickets from those two teams. Warney has hardly any.

If You Go by Age Most Of The Autralian Batsman will not be their till 2007.you look at longveity and talent the indian batting line up is the best and you should not forget they play the likesof mcgrath ,warne ,lee and gillespie.i bet if australian batsman played against these 4 their stats could significantly drop.so indian batting line up currently is the best possible combination of young talent and experienced players.

I dont know how you can prove that indian batting is stronger then australian because australia at the moment is on top of the world and if you look india in odis you will see Zimbabwes name under it.
