Story ICC Battle For Supremacy - Its Fifty-Fifty! | PAK v ENG | ENG Innings

Just out of curiosity, I was trying to figure out the cricketers used in that nice Super selector banner. Was it - Malinga, Sachin, Ashwin & Hayden? :p

Shan knows that. He's the man behind the Super Selector thing, I'm just learning.

The Last Battle!!!

Yes, its right! This ICC Battle For Supremacy will be the last International tournament Sachin Tendulkar will feature in. Earlier today, he made clear that he will be retiring from all forms of the game at the highest stage. He stated, "It has been a fantastic journey for me. I'm glad I could serve my country for so long which was actually my dream. I'd like to thank all my close ones and my fellow team mates over the years who stood by me in all sorts of situations. I'd like to tell people of India to enjoy this last battle of mine and not think about me not representing India in future."

On being asked about the World Cup dream he said, "It is always there and we will try our level best to win this cup. It always is a special feeling playing in front of the home crowd and I hope we live upto their expectations. May the best team win!"

ICC Battle For Supremacy may probably mark an end of Sachin Tendulkar era. All fans of his will be hoping for nothing but his success in this tournament. He is surely one of the best players to ever play the game if not the best, A true gentleman! We wish him luck from our side and hopefully we'll see him in the form of his life. A tribute to the living legend, Mr. Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.

We would also like to take this opportunity and bid goodbye to another legend of the game, the Smiling Assassin Muttiah Muralitharan. Murali will be playing his last One Day International as well in this tournament after retiring from Test Cricket last year and we hope he also has a blast. Muttiah has served Sri Lankan Cricket from a long time and they will surely miss his duties. Captain Sangakkara said, "Everyone will miss him. We just want him to enjoy this competition."

We all will miss you guys!

I cant think of Indian cricket without Sachin Tendulkar :crying. Its going to be an end of an era and hopefully India can produce some cricketers who could replace Sachin Tendulkar. :(

Gamerkid22 speaks about India's chances

We are just a day away from the tournament starting in Delhi, and today we have one of the best story writers on this forum. The writer of the famous story England's Journey to the World Cup which won numerous SOTM awards. He is one and only Sarvesh Mali(gamerkid22) and today he will speak with us about the chances of India in the tournament as well as tomorrow's opener against New Zealand

Your take on the Indian squad...
Indian selectors have really made few brave decisions with this squad selection. The batting department is really strong enough to thrash any bowling attack in this tournament but a bit of concern in the bowling department as the selectors didn’t go for another spinner. Zaheer, Bhajii and Nehra will hold the key but on the sub-continent pitches spinners are definitely going to prove handy for any team and the fast bowlers will hardly get any help from the flat pitches. Pujara is really a good pick as he had a good domestic season. I would have picked Yusuf Pathan and Pragyan Ojha instead of Kohli and Mithun. Good to see Irfan Pathan and Uthappa back in the side.

Is Group A the toughest group?
Certainly not. With Australia, South Africa and SriLanka in the same group I expect to see more close matches in Group B. In Group A I feel India and England are the better teams to qualify and with Pakistan not playing good cricket recently and few players getting involved in controversies over the past six months it will be tough for them to qualify from the group stages. West Indies certainly lack the quality in their side that once they had and New Zealand might give few hiccups to other teams but still long way to go for them.

Your starting XI against New Zealand for the first match
Virender Sehwag
Sachin Tendulkar
Gautam Gambhir
Suresh Raina
Yuvraj Singh
MS Dhoni(C)(WK)
Irfan Pathan
Harbhajan Singh
Praveen Kumar
Zaheer Khan
Ashish Nehra

One player who could be very important for India in this competition..
Watch out for the Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. He is in terrific form and will be playing his final ODI tournament. He has loads of experience, runs and centuries in his bag. Infact he has given his best for cricket and all he needs is to achieve his dream to win the World Cup for his nation.

Your favourite Indian moment as fan?
Sachin becoming the first cricketer on the planet to score a double century in ODI’s. That was an incredible moment and I am sure no Indian cricket fan would forget than moment.

Your favourite Player? Why?
Do I need to answer that? Certainly its Sachin Tendulkar because he is the best cricketer on the planet. But I am very sad that this is going to be his last tournament. Hopefully he can win the World Cup for India.

India v New Zealand, who will be the winner?
India on their home ground with a strong batting line up are likely to win against a New Zealand side playing only 3 specialist bowlers.

Chances of India in this competition?
Chances of India to win the tournament are very high. The tournament is happening in the sub-continent and the side lead by MS Dhoni who has been very successful with his captainship and has always showed never say die attitude, plus a mix of experience and youth in the side will certainly favor the host nation and with Sachin to play his last World Cup of his career will definitely help India to become the World Champions. All the best India.

Thanks a lot Sarvesh aka gamerkid22 for taking out some time for this from your hectic life and we would like wish you all the best for you future and hopefully you could return back to PlanetCricket someday.
