We are ready - Dhoni

Indian Skipper ahead of the first match of ICC Battle For Supremacy against New Zealand speaks to the press about the preparations of the team. 'We're ready for this', says MS as he answers some questions from the media persons.

On being asked about Indian preparations he states, "We did get enough time to prepare for this mega event. And, everyone are raring to go. Sachin pa, Viru, Bhajji and everyone are pumped up." About the Kiwis he said, "New Zealand are a good side. We have worked out their strengths and weaknesses. Its the matter of executing our plans now."

When asked about retirement of Sachin, MS Dhoni said that we should just enjoy watching him one last time in the International arena. We will just let him enjoy here. He is a Great player and probably knows what is best for him. We will just respect his decision.

On the other hand, Kiwi skipper Vettori fears Sachin might have a tournament of his life here. He in the press said, "We're vary of him as every other nation is. We all know how good he is and when he gets going there is no stopping. We just hope we're lucky enough and get him early on."

Daniel Vettori also cleared that Brendon McCullum will be in the team as a Pure Bat and Hopkins will be handling the keeping duties. He said the playing eleven will be decided seeing the pitch conditions.

This looks pretty impressive so far. I really like it. Its been a good read so far, and the presenation has been effective as well. I just hope that this doesnt fade away with time. :)

Hopefully not, Bilal. We're really determined to do this and are working pretty hard as well. Shan has got the next update almost done but has some problems with comp, hopefully he gets it alright and update is up soon.

I haven't been active in the stories section lately, but this story brought me back. Hopefully we go one better than callum's prediction and break the semi-final curse.

: Hello and welcome all our viewers around the world to our new pre-match show, Battle - Off The Field. Today is a very exciting day as cricket's biggest competition - ICC Battle for Supremacy starts. We begin this tournament with a Group A clash as hosts India take on New Zealand at the Feroz Shah Kotla in the capital. It will be a real tough match as both the teams are evenly matched and also both the teams are in some good form. I am joined here in the studio by two formers captains Sourav Ganguly and Stephen Fleming. Well Sourav a big game today for the Indians and how important is for them to win this game?

: Yeah, its a huge match. India come into this match not the only favourites to win this match but one to win the tournament and if they want to win the tournament they will have to win here today. Its always important for any team to win the first match of the tournament as it gives the team the confidence and the momentum and this didn't happen during the last World Cup in West Indies and so we crashed out in the group stages. This one being played in the sub-continent I guess India have better chances of winning it.

: Stephen , what do you think about New Zealand's chances in this tournament. There have been lots of talking about the selectors picking just 3 specialised bowlers for the tournament. Will that have any effect on their chances in this tournament?

80392193.png
: It could have an effect as the tournament progresses because the bowlers may get injured or maybe get sick but I guess we have many all rounders in the side who are really good bowlers also. So I feel if New Zealand can get a good start by winning today's game then they maybe in with a chance to win the tournament but still its a long journey.

: Thanks a lot, Stephen Fleming and Sourav Ganguly for your views and now its time to go down to Shantanu who has the weather report for us.

: Thanks a lot User. Before looking at the weather conditions for today, the stadium here is fully packed and the crowd are very eager for the first game of the tournament. The atmosphere here is very energetic and there is a lot of support for the hosts as expected.

Lots of support for the Indian team

And now coming to the weather, its really good. Its bright and sunny afternoon with the temperature just above 30 C with no chances of rain today. There is a good wind blowing and this might be favourable for the bowlers early on. Overall these are perfect conditions for a game of cricket. Back to you User in the studio.

userd.png
: Thanks a lot Shantanu for that weather report and its good to hear that we will be getting a complete game of cricket. Now without wasting any time lets go down to Wasim Akram for the pitch report.

15937595.png
: Thanks User. Its a warm day and the conditions are perfect for the start of the tournament. This is a good pitch for the first match and the batsmen will be happy after seeing this pitch but there are some cracks on the pitch which will help the bowlers. But after the first half hour or so this pitch will be a flat one and more favourable for the batsmen.

The bowlers will have to keep the ball in the right areas if they want to get the wickets or else the batsmen will dominate the game. The spinners will play a part as the ball gets old maybe after the powerplay overs and there some rough patches near the stumps. This being a day-night game there are a lot of chances of dew coming into play and keeping that in mind I think this is a good toss to lose. Back to you User.

userd.png
: Wasim Akram with the pitch report saying the batsmen will be benifited from this pitch and the spinners will come into play after the powerplay overs. Lets see if its Tendulkar or Taylor who makes the most of this conditions. We will take a short break and when we return we will have the all important toss.

Very good idea of hosting the show with character none other than story writers. Excellent creativity is what I can say! :hpraise
