ICC Champions Trophy 2013 - England & Wales

Great finish from Jajeda. Just shows how much SA rely on the likes of Steyn,Morkel (and the not-playing Kallis)

Very difficult chase, unless Amla get it right.

I think, it's a good pitch. The runs are up on the board, but India will still have to bowl well. Also, it's not just Hashim Amla that SA will depend upon. They have some fantastic batsmen, players who can single handedly decimate attacks. AB De Villiers is probably the best all round batsman across all formats at the moment.

It will be close, I feel.

I disagree, admittedly it is a very good batting track, but the highest successful chase at this pitch is 258. This is a massive task, if they manage it. Plus boom boom Miller is not playing today.

I'd have to go along with that. I can understand cautious optimism but as a more or less neutral I'd be heavily backing india from this position. maintaining a RR over a run a ball is always a big task, you need a couple of players to play out of their skins.

duminy's effectiveness while bowling also suggests spin could be useful, and obviously india are leagues in front of south africa in the spin deparment.

What a fantastic start to the tournament. Good to see opening combo Rohit-Dhawan worked here. Moustache factor worked really well. Both Dhawan and Jadeja were on top of their talent against Steyn-less Saffers (including injured Morkel) :cheers

Amla and Ingram gone early, so it would be interesting to watch how Ishant bowl here, he should learn from McLaren. On the other hand, Ashwin and Jadeja's roles will be crucial as Duminy gave away just 42 runs in his 10 overs :clap

Stats are just that, stats. They never reveal the true picture. The pitch that day, could have been totally different. From the look of things, 285-305, seemed par. And as a fellow poster pointed out, Miller is playing, but he's not the only danger man.

It's strange to see that there is constant banter on the forum during a warm up match, but very little in an international match?

Its SA`s game to lose at this stage. With Faf and Miller still to come and the X-factor of Mclaren looming large, SA are sure favorites here. Going to need something heroic from one of the bowlers if India have to stand a chance here. We are at least 30 runs short.

De Villiers is out. India have this in the bag.

ah yes, Mr "Choke". Welcome, was waiting for you to arrive and you have not disappointed.

Still South Africa are ahead... The run rate required is just 7.5'ish. These two guys are batting very well and its Powerplay time now. Still back SA to win this. India need a wicket very quickly here. This is a beast of a pitch for batsmen.

losing wickets due to being aggressive when chasing a big score isn't really choke, especially when they're down a few key players.

SAF aren't completely out of this yet, just reckon they'll lose because they're down to their last batting pair and both of them have to hit out.
