ICC Champions Trophy 2013 - England & Wales

These are just WARM UP GAMES, nothing more I wont pay much attention to them, good to see Yadav amongst the wickets though, a little more pace from him and he would certainly be a handful.

He was bowling over 140-142 consistently. How much do you want?

Good handling at that pace is better than spraying around at 150+.

Will Irfan be playing today? If not,I don't have to watch this stupid match. The reason I started watching cricket is because of Sachin, Sehwag and Pathan.2/3 of them are now not there.Sachin is retired, Sehwag lost his passion. The only left is Irfan.

Indian team is so much embarrassment these days, giving more & more chances to pathetic losers like Vijay & Rohit Sharma.Vijay is only there because he is part of CSK team.Rohit because he is selector's pet.

The only hard working guys now in there are Kohli, DK, Dhoni, Jadeja & Ishant.
Also Umesh Yadav to some extent.

You should have asked anyone here as to why Vijay is in the team. Absolutely none of the answer would have been 'coz of CSK'. His consecutive hundreds against the Aussies made him in, with the likes of Sehwag and Gambhir kept out, selectors had a few handful to pick from.

There has been a lot of talk about how Rohit Sharma is a franchise player. True, he hasn't done much of the talking in International Cricket, but did he wear a franchise shirt before he made it into the team first time? Poor guy, not sure what goes wrong!!

I want 150k+, in the 70's/80's Lilee, Thompson, Holding, Marshall, Garner etc. all bowled consistently at 150k+, of recent times Lee, Akthar and Bond also maintaned the 150k+, if Yadav is to ever be considered fast he must do same!

I love the wording on the BBC,
BBC said:
the opening Group B game of a tournament regarded by many as a "mini World Cup"

It's more worthwhile than lots of the head to head series and triangulars etc, but I love the generalisation which carries no meaning "regarded by many".

I'll probably keep one eye on it, but it's just another money spinner which lacks minnows and excludes Zimbabwe and Bangladesh as well. It's what the ICC and TV would love to be the World Cup, in some ways because they don't do "super 6/8" rounds and flog it to death it kind of carries an element of what a CUP should be, but it is too short and too exclusive to be that good.

First time i have seen an answer that is truely unbiased and without any hatred mate.Hats off. Some morons expect to drop people who made consicutive hundreds in the last series he played for Indian team. They will say selection should not be based on IPL and they will say he dint perform in IPL,why should he be selected. If the same player comes from his region he will say that player is GOD.Sick of these morons and that is why i have reduced my activity in PC because of these immature kids who crib like CSK players,Chennai players etc..

The length of the tournament is what attracts my interest. The whole thing lasts for 15 matches, which I think is a good thing. The World Cup is ridiculously bloated. I'm also not going to miss Bangladesh, Zimbabwe or any of the associates. It's the best teams in the world playing good cricket.

Too much to ask from an Indian pacer bud.

Your post is really disappointing mate. Cricket, is a team sport made by individuals. Everyone, has their personal favourites, but at the end of the day, it's a team sport and represented by a nation's best.

The Indian team, which you're terming as an embarrassment is the no.1 team in the world (as per the ICC ranking) as well as the World Champions. And, those are some monumental achievements which only happen when the system is correct. The selectors, must be doing something right.

Also, the Chennai Super Kings have nothing to do with the national team's selection. These are ridiculous stories, which are created to support impotent arguments. I'm not in favour of Murali Vijay's selection, but that's just my opinion. Rohit Sharma is an unproven talent, but, he's young and regarded by the cricketing fraternity as a special talent. Last time I checked, Rohit Sharma did quite well against England in the ODI's.

You terming only a select few as hard working is really disrespectful in my opinion, because whether they perform or not, those cricketers who represent our nation work really hard to dawn the national colours.

Lastly, people are selected on the basis of performance. Tendulkar has magnanimously retired, Sehwag didn't merit selection based on pure performance and fitness and Pathan deserves to be part of the squad, but considering Bhuvaneshwar Kumar has done a superb job for India in the past six months, he gets the nod ahead of Pathan. Pathan just doesn't commend the balance as a result, though, like most of the others that are selected is a fine cricketer.

I see no issues with Indian cricket at the moment as far as ODI performance is concerned. It's just my opinion. :yes

I cannot for the life of me understand, why AB De Villiers isn't wearing a helmet while standing up to the bowlers. It resulted in Mark Boucher retiring one series too early. De Villiers has years of cricket left in him. Just frightens me, every time I see a keeper not wearing a helmet when he's standing up and close. :noway

209/1 off 33.5 overs, am sensing something monumental from India here, with the hitters to come this could be ugly.

Great finish from Jajeda. Just shows how much SA rely on the likes of Steyn,Morkel (and the not-playing Kallis)

Very difficult chase, unless Amla get it right.

A decent score but could have been much better. If Dhoni had stay there till end, we could have reach 350. This match till 45th over was just the reflection of the WC 2011 match that these two teams played. Brilliant start from the openers, collapse from middle order but the difference this time was Sir Ravindra Jadeja. Brilliant from Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma. Good to see Rohit Sharma back in the runs and Sir is special as always. Now it's upto the bowlers to do the job.
