Unite For Gaza Series
Pakistan vs Bangladesh 1st Test, Day 4.
Day 4 got under way at Lahore after both sides took a one day break in between the test to mark the celebration of Eid, It is the first time in history in which a Test match has had a day off in between a test. Many of the pundits said that Day 4 would decide the outcome of the test match and indeed this proved to be the case. Bangladesh came out leading Pakistan by 6 runs with 6 wickets in hand and they would have needed to build some solid partnerships if they were to set Pakistan a testing final innings target to chase.
Pakistan opened the bowling with Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq and both bowlers immediately got things right. Wahab made the first in road of the day removing A Haque who was set on 32. Razzaq posed a great threat from the other end bowling with a great variety of in swingers, out swingers and slower balls which did the trick for the Bangladeshi middle and lower order batsman. Bangladesh lost their remaining 6 wickets for only 42 runs setting Pakistan only 40 runs to get, with Razzaq finishing with 6 wickets in the innings taking 5 of the final 6 wickets to fall for Bangladesh.
The Pakistani openers for the second time in the match made sure that they did not lose any early wicket, both Jamshed and Hafeez worked the ball around without taking any risks, Hafeez eventually fell to beauty from Shakib but Pakistan were well and truly in sight of victory by this stage. Younis Khan and Jamshed then went on to take Pakistan to a 9 wicket victory.
Bangladesh played well for the most part of the first three days and kept never let Pakistan run away with the match so they will be some what dissapointed at the margin of victory and the way day 4 panned out. In the end the result was a befitting one and proved to be a perfect home coming for the Pakistan Cricket team and its Cricket loving fans after being deprived of International Cricket on home soil for more than five years.
Misbah at the match presentation said he was delighted with the performance and would like to give a huge thanks for all the crowd turning up filling up the stadium on all 4 days, and that he hopes the money raised will be of benefit to the victims of Gaza.
It will be interesting to see how the limited overs leg of the series go, Bangladesh will want to pull of a few wins before they return back home.
We hope you all enjoyed the test match and we look forward to seeing you for the ODI.
