ICC Super Series squads

Akhtar bowled well in the Afro-Asia Cup games. He was named Man of the Match in the last game.

But also to note: Vaas in not in the squad.

Alrite yes Akhtar has a healthy bowling average, but in recent years he has been awful and prone to injurys. Hes a bad choice. I saw him inn Australia during the winter....did nothing! He was Rubbissssh!

Well in the end, you can have only 14 players.
Though I fully agree that Vaas and Inzamam are really good cricketers. But really whom would you drop from the current squad to put them in? How effective is Vaas outside Sri Lanka?

Since the series against South Africa in 2003/2004 Akhtar averages 21.02. Ignoring Bangladesh it's 22.84. How is this rubbish?

Well whatever said but not having Dravid in the ODI team defies logic.

Also if Akhtar is considered on his recent form so as to say then what about Zaheer ?

Maybe I would not have had Lara in my ODI team and get Inzi and without doubt have Rahul instead of Afridi.

Smith captaining is also a dodgy situation. He doesnt stand up to others in the team for me.

All in all Sidhu summed it up really well "This matches create more interest for this things rather than the cricket played"

If you are going to replace Afridi with Dravid, then you will lose out on a bowling option, since the former is an allrounder. And we know how important allrounders are in ODIs.

Also Smith is an excellent captain. He has done a decent job at South Africa, especially after taking over under very tough circumstances. Recent performances against England and West Indies have been very impressive. But I think the deciding factor in this case was his role at Somerset this season. He did an excellent job, both as player and captain there. Good decision by the selectors.

Bhajji or Kumble should be in there for Vettori.

Did you even watch the test matches properly? Akhtar and Kaneria were the only Pakistani bowlers who troubled the Aussies. Lemme see...He took 5/99 in the 1st test and 5/109 in the 2nd test. He didnt play the triangular series aswell.

Yea I was impressed with Kaneria he was awesome. Akhtar I found did not bow well despite thos two five fors. He got 11 wickets in the 3 tests. 2 five fors is good but inconsistancy isnt. Also some of the wickets were a bit lucky!

How come Jayasuriya missed out? He is a better all-rounder than Afridi IMO. These suckers have missed out some of the best players: Jayasuriya, Vaas, Inzi (how can they do that?!), Youhana, Vaughan, Fleming etc

How come Boucher gets picked for the test team? Why so many Africans?

JamesyJames3, can you explain to me how those wickets were lucky?
