There is what 6 months until the tournament starts. In that time anything can happen.
There are no clear favorites in 20/20s, Sri Lanka have a good side with some good bowlers, India have good batsman for the format, South Africa have a strong batting lineup, Pakistan have good bowlers, WI have good batsman.
Anything can happen, if it was a 50 over competition or a test competition then there would be clear favorites.

I think playing T20 has its own art just like playing ODIs and Test Cricket. A team like Austraillia is more comfortable playing One days and Test than T20, thats what History tells us. I strongly believe that T20 has favorites just like One Days and Test. A team having Explosive Batsmens and Good Pace attack has always more chances for a win and thats what we have seen, Take South Africa, India and Pakistan. T20 is not about Come and Bang Bang, There is a plan to play the 20 overs and score tons. Any team applies to the formula succeeds but ofcourse "Cricket is by Chance" that thing remains true but it doesnt mean that Zimbabwe and bangladesh has also equal chance of winning T20. Favourites are always there in any format depending upon the situation. However I agree that 6 months left, lets see what happens.

T20 requires 'strategy' to win. Not that the other forms don't, its just that T20 requires it more.
On a day,the team which executes its strategic plans/actions well enough, shall win.

Yeah it requires strategy i agree and a team must have those players who can apply to that stratgey to its full potential

After last nights game this feels a lot sooner. I'm hoping for an Australian squad like this:

Watson
Warner
Marsh
Clarke (c)
White (vc)
D Hussey
Hughes
Haddin
Smith
Hauritz
Johnson
Nannes
Tait
Bollinger
Siddle

That is a seriously quick fast bowling pack. I threw Hughes in there as the extra batsman, and in case Haddin is injured, to play as keeper. Two spinners seems like it would be the way to go.

Would love to see Brad Hodge, but I don't think that will happen. If Brett Lee is fit, he gets in.

Admittedly, he isn't great, but I doubt the selectors are going to part with him as captain, which means he stays in the side.

He'd be better of resigning. Would love to see Punter lead the side to a T20 WC victory, (almost) complete his resume.

Punters resume will be completed this November when he becomes the first Aussie skipper to lose home and away Ashes series in god knows how long.

I think Australia are winning this one, Clarke's leadership will get them the title.

Australia need Shaun Tait fit and firing to have any chance of claiming the World Twenty20 in the Caribbean, according to former Test paceman Rod Hogg.

Speaking on Fox Sports’ Inside Cricket program, Hogg said Tait, who set the MCG alight with a lightning spell of fast bowling in Australia’s Twenty20 win against Pakistan, was a proven big-match performer.

“He was a key man for us in the 2007 World Cup, then we sort have forgot about him a bit,” Hogg said.

“The pace he delivered was incredible; to me he is just the man who is going to lead us to the World Cup in the Twenty20s.

“He just gears himself for Twenty20, you only have to send down 10 to 15 quick deliveries so that’s perfect for him.”

Tait’s credentials as an international player have taken a hit in recent times due to inconsistent performances at domestic level, but Hogg believes selectors should disregard the issue.

“He’s the type of player that if you put him in a district game with about three spectators and a dog there he’ll bowl 120(kph). You give him a crowd like the other night and he’s going to give you 160.”

Inside Cricket panellist Damien Fleming agreed with Hogg, pointing to the weapons Tait brings to the table.

“He’s got genuine pace, he swings the new ball and old ball and he really intimidates the batsman. We need him in India in 2011 if we want to win the World Cup again,” Fleming said.

Tait averages an outstanding 14.87 in Twenty20 international cricket, but it’s the excitement he brings to the crowd and even his fellow players that makes him such a crucial element in the short form of the game.

Tait key for World T20: Hogg - Australia - Fox Sports

A firing Tait definitely gives us the x-factor in the bowling. And if Lee ever returns we could field a lineup Lee, Tait, Nannes/Johnson, Hauritz or go in with the fab 4 pacemen. That lineup has the potential to go well and truely wrong or destroy a team. Batting is still a concern for us, we continue to get rolled cheaply and that could hold us back in the end.

Is Australia by any chance interested in a trade? Ishant Sharma for Shaun Tait :p? We'll pay good money.

I can't see Australia winning it. The batting just isn't strong enough even if the bowling is up with the best in the world. Sure they defended a low total the other night but it was against a poor Pakistan side who really lost the game for themselves.

I just can't see Australia producing competitive totals of 180+ on any kind of regular basis

That depends what team we pick. We did it twice against South Africa last year, when we picked real T20 teams. They key is that number three position, where we seem to fall apart.
