You know what starts fights? Things like these:

India batsman Rohit Sharma has called Mohammad Amir a "normal bowler," saying the hype around the returning Pakistan quick was unjustified. Instead, Rohit hailed emerging India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah as a "rare talent".
He was probabaly frustrated that he, who's supposed to be the best opener in LOs, was humiliated by a bowler who was playing his 4th T20i in almost 6 years

Again, I think you are making a bit too much fuss by calling it "humiliation". He got 2 good deliveries straight up in that game and got out. People who have watched Rohit for years know that he is very lazy at the start of his inning, so I wasn't surprised the way he got out. There was nothing "humiliating" about that.

Watched couple of matches yesterday. Both the matches were very close. The thing which I enjoyed the most was the stadium. I haven't seen such a beautiful textured stadiums in the past except the WC 2015 - Australian stadiums and IPL stadiums.

Although, once crowed start visiting stadiums for high-profile matches, it automatically gets ugly.

As expected, I didn't get to see more sixes. The reason is quite understandable. Only few associate teams have some quality players who can hit the ball long way to the stands.

I was very happy to see the competitive attitude of all the four teams. But that Wicket-keeper of Afghanistan was annoying me with his unwanted encouraging chants. He always does this when he gets over-excited while his team is winning or he played a good knock with the bat or got few opportunities for stumping. We don't get to see such type of chants in International cricket very often, especially in limited overs.

Rohit said: "There is just so much hype around him, I don't think it is right time to give him too much hype after one match. He is good but he needs to prove it over and over again. Now people are comparing him to Wasim Akram and all that. He is just a normal bowler, on that given day if he is good, he is good. It is not as if he turns up and blows everyone away."

The problem with people is, they will pick just the half and start arguing over it. How rare it has been that Indian right handed batsmen struggled against a left arm pacer in conditions suiting fast bowling? Not very rare. Even Junaid Khan did bowl the spells similar as to Amir's during Pak's last visit to India. And what really happened with him? Did he turn into another Wasim Akram? No, he stayed a Junaid Khan.

Radically, Rohit was pointing to Indian media that they should also focus on India's new bowling sensation Bumrah, rather than only sticking to create lots of hype around Amir. Just don't take it too personal, Pakistani fans.

Even though, I don't even think those statements were as discourteous as few like, "I would dismiss Sachin off the first ball", that we heard sometime back. I remember it right.

All said and done, Rohit's statement was quite unnecessary here. Yes, Rohit has done quite well in the recent past to call himself a good batsman; unfortunately, one still cannot compare him to the Fab 4 of the last decade; perhaps never might. Someone commented about Rohit being the world's best limited overs operner- I frankly dont agree with that inference as I feel he can only make an impact once he is set(which generally takes a bit of time) and often only on flat-tracks.It seems though, that the seniority got the better of Rohit when he made such statements. Amir has troubled India in the past, when he burst onto the scene and as it so happens India is generally found wanting against left-handers.

Credit must be given to Amir, although the pitch definitely helped him- he bowled a brilliant spell under pressure. It's not easy to run in and pick two wickets in the first over while defending a partly 84. Comparisons with Wasim would definitely be drawn given. If you play in the sub-continent you are bound to be compared with say a Wasim, Sachin, Miandad, Jayasuriya.

I disagree, he is a world class batsman and can play well in any condition.

If you're referring to his exploits in Asutralia- sorry to say those tracks were quite flat.

Asia Cup T20, he did give his best in the initial games, but faltered towards the ends and that has been quite characteristic of him. If one really ought to be called a world class batsman, the adaptability is the key(Outside the sub-continent-he isn't very good-except on flat tracks) as well as consistency, which unfortunately Rohit lacks.

This is the problem with Indian fans and overall media, over-praising a particular bowler as a next big thing and later the so-called emerging bowlers thrashed all over the park, examples are Srishant, Irfan Pathan and the likes. Bumrah is just having an unusual action advantage, much like what Sohail Tanvir was in his initial days... Once batsmen get used to bumrah, The fate wont be good enough for him I am afraid.

As far as Aamir is concerned, He is definitely a special bowler, He isn't Wasim Akram but can become If works hard. Kholi was more respectable and played well Aamir other than any batsman in Indian line-up that day.

I guess Rohit has to justify his batting against him in World Cup Match rather than calling him a normal bowler. Its a funny statement by him and clearly tells about how is feeling the 2 balls Plump LBWS that day :)

If a player of his class got out twice on two balls to a "normal bowler", he certainly wouldn't feel too good about it.[DOUBLEPOST=1457509100][/DOUBLEPOST]

Well, I didn't see him play one good ODI innings against a good bowling attack in difficult conditions.

I agree with Rohit, Since amir's comeback he's been over appreciated for his performance, the 6 overs 2 runs 3 wickets spell came against UAE which was the weakest team in the asia cup. one great Spell against India (Bowler Friendly pitch) doesn't justify his greatness whereas Bumrah performed well in the Australia series, vs Srilanka and now in the Asia cup. Amir struggled a lot in Zealand to pick up wickets whereas Bumrah troubled the opposition with his yorkers which I dint find in Amir doing the same.

If we compare Bumrah vs Amir in T20i

Mohammed Amir since his comeback :

7 Matches 8 wickets
Avg: 22.62 Econ: 6.70

Bumrah since Australia series:

11 Matches 15 Wickets
Avg: 16.20 econ: 6.15

Bumrah no doubt has performed way more better than Amir and I find it absolutely baseless praising Mohammed Amir instead of Bumrah.

Aamir didn't have his captain's support, He didn't have his board's support, leave that alone. He didn't have most of his country's support coming back to the team. He didn't have IPL to make him better or polish him, He didn't have a captain like Dhoni. He didn't even have a domestic team like Mumbai Indians, where there are players like Corey, Rohit, Pollard, Malinga. And coaches like Ponting, Jonty, Tendulkar.

Bumrah is a special bowler for us and that's why we are praising him. I don't see anything wrong in that. I know his action is unique and batsmen will eventually figure it out. But how can you tell that his fate wont be good enough ? You are telling that because batsmen figured Tanvir's bowling action and were playing comfortably. Who knows same thing will happen for Bumrah also ? He might be different. He might have some magic which Tanvir didn't have. I don't see what's your issue here. Also, it's not just unusual action. His yorkers are the key here. Even Malinga has an unusual action and even he was very sepcial because of his yorkers. Same thing with Bumrah. Note- I am not comparing Malinga and Bumrah, I am just saying the similarity between them. Give Bumrah some time before judging that his fate will be same as Tanvir's. And of course we will praise him. He is bowling nicely till now.

When you tell Amir might become like wasim akram if he works hard, I don't see why you are not seeing that Bumrah might become like Malinga if he works hard too.

And I agree Rohit is not a class batsmen like Kohli for example. But, he is good. That too in recent times. He has two 200's in ODI. Who else has it ? It might have been in a flat pitch, but many teams have played in flat pitch and does anyone else has that record ? Yes, Rohit smashed aussies around in the Australia series in a flat pitch. But, Rohit got the most runs in that series. Not any aussie or any other Indian players. Now, you will tell it's because Aussies didn't had a great bowling line-up. Now, I tell, do you think India had a good bowling line up ?

And clearly there was no humiliation in getting out for Amir in that match in those 2 deliveries. Whoever said that its humiliating for batsmen is, clearly out of their mind. It's a great pitch for fast bowler, and a pretty good bowler gets a batsmen out in 2 balls, what's humiliating in that? It was a great pitch for fast bowlers. Of course Amir had to do well. Of course he had a greater advantage there than Rohit had. And it's rohit sharma's opinion that Amir is a ordinary bowler. Why is everyone getting furious over that ? Everyone have their opinions. Sometimes, a lazy shot or a lack of concentration will get a batsmen out. Maybe same thing happened for Rohit.
Note that I am not saying Rohit is a class batsmen nor Amir is a class bowler. Both are good in their own way. And yeah. I don't see why Rohit said that statement.

Tbh when nothing is going your way, that's when you become stronger. And Bumrah was not good in IPL. AFTER ipl, he actually evolved. He became what he is now due to his domestic cricket. Also, Bumrah was called for 5th ODI. Obviously he was under pressure and he would be dropped if he didnt perfrom well. Like Sran was dropped.

I'm pretty sure that's the Dhoni-effect.

I am quite sure Mohammed Amir played Bangladesh Premier League, Pakistan Super League and domestic cricket in Pakistan before making a comeback into the national team and talking about captain's support, Afridi & Malik had backed amir for comeback and really don't see the reason for fans support for performing in international matches. some people dint even know who Bumrah was before his National call up.
