Would be interesting to see India's squad. The T20 series vs Australia should give some indications, although the huge difference in conditions can confuse the decision making. Ideally India should go spin heavy into this tournament and hope Yuvraj strikes form in the T20's against Australia so that he can prime himself to be the good backup spin option for this tournament. Shami's absence will hurt for sure, but if India focus more on spin, they can minimize damage.

I was looking at the qualifier leg of the tournament: DAMN, it will be tough for the teams involved as only the top team in the group advances to the main tournament

Group A: BD, Ire, Ned, Oman
Group B: Scot, Zim, Afg, HK

It will be a very tight finish. Group A will probably be either BD or Ire. While Afg should be favorites for Group B after their recent exploits against Zim. Then again, its T20. A couple of upsets by HK or Scotland or Netherlands, and they could be through

I think Ireland and Afganistan will qualify. Afganistan look like a really good side these days and the Irish always find a way.

Before that for the Asia Cup, Afg should qualify and once they do, I would think they could be providing some real shocks.

I think AFG should definitely quality for Asia Cup, unless they have some really bad days during the tournament. Beating UAE, HK, Oman should be plausible

and then upsetting the big boys is on the cards as PokerAce said

West Indies squad: Darren Sammy (capt), Samuel Badree, Sulieman Benn, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Jason Holder, Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin, Andre Russell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Jerome Taylor

That's the best the Caribbean has to offer right there. I wish the selectors applied the same selection criteria they apply to this team to the ODI and Test teams.
If Narine is allowed to bowl, he'd form a devastating pair with Badree, but i think that he'll withdraw, also keeping in mind that the IPL is right after the World T20.

Australia seem to have changed their t20 side so much in the last 12 months. I know they've had injuries, but it can't help before a bit tournament. Teams like India and England have had a pretty settled team in the same time period which I think is helping them build towards the main event.

This, according to me is the best team in WC. Batting line up is destructible and spinners badree and narine are in great touch. Surely they should be one of the favourites to win the cup. If you look at their squad, there are many all-rounders. And, even if their batting collapses, they bat very deep. This will be a difficult team to beat considering most of them are T20 experts.

New Zealand WT20 squad

Kane Williamson (capt), Martin Guptill, Ross Taylor, Henry Nicholls, Grant Elliott, Corey Anderson, Colin Munro, Luke Ronchi (wk), Mitchell Santner, Nathan McCullum, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Mitchell McClenaghan, Adam Milne, Ish Sodhi

Probable team

1. Guptill
2. Williamson
3. Munro
4. Taylor
5. Elliot
6. Anderson
7. Ronchi
8. Santner
9. McCullum
10. Southee
11. Boult

Matt Henry is a bit unlucky not to be in the squad, although McClenaghan and Milne are bowling pretty well at the moment.

I think NZ will do alright, but I can't help but think they'll miss Brendon McCullum. Strange time to retire.

India Squad-

:wkb:MS Dhoni (capt. & wk)
:bat:Rohit Sharma
:bat:Shikhar Dhawan
:bat:Virat Kohli
:bat:Ajinkya Rahane
:bat:Suresh Raina

:ar:Yuvraj Singh
:ar:Hardik Pandya
:ar:Ravindra Jadeja
:ar:Pawan Negi

:bwl:R Ashwin
:bwl:Jasprit Bumrah
:bwl:Ashish Nehra
:bwl:Harbhajan Singh
:bwl:Mohammed Shami

Shami hasn't played much cricket in past 1 year. No doubt he is India's current best pace bowler, but how much touch will he be in? And Negi is a surprise for me. He doesn't have experience in international level. Axar Patel should have been given a chance instead of him. Sad to see Manish Pandey and Irfan Pathan miss out even though I didn't expect the latter one to be selected.

Apart from Negi, not much surprises there. It would be a good confidence boost for Negi that he is selected for the main tournament. He can now perform with freedom (if he is picked). Hope Dhoni gives him a game or two soon.

Negi, seriously? What has he done?
