Well i dont blame, cause the last time i brought nehra in a topic it went like this, though i can say i have proudly backed nehraji :p, but i would be lying if i say i expected him to make this good a comeback!

Bowling: Actually only thing i can think is get Zak or Nehra back with WC in mind and have the other pacers rotate around them will
give them some experience to deal with situations.

I don't understand why Nehra's name is being brought back by people in this forum. It just sounds like wishful thinking. It's been way too long since he's bowled for India. I don't see him ever coming back.

Nehra is 34 a year younger than Zak is still active and doing well in FC ,was pretty decent in all his last outings for the teams he played, has good experience with death bowling, though cant say much about his fitness and fielding, just added him as an after thought, certainly he is better than ishant.

Yea if Ishant gives 70 runs in 10 overs, Nehra will give 65 runs in 10 overs. Agree, he is definitely better than Ishant!

Serious? Nehra? :facepalm

He was India's highest wicket taker from 2009 till 2011 WC were he performed well against pak got injured and rested.Has not got a look back since he recovered (2011 itself)
He was Dhoni's & ganguly's goto bowler for powerplay and death overs.
We have this habit of prejudicing players without looking at performance just because we dont like them.
I think i made a reasonable suggestion ,if zak can be brought back so can nehra.
If a experienced bowler has to be brought back and it is my choice, i too will go with Zak because he has better leadership qualities and doesn't sulk.i did mention nehra as an after thought, say zak gets injured or doesnt perform well the other experienced bowler that can be included would be nehra, that was the point i was trying to make.
I did mention some other valid points in the previous post but just 'nehra' seems to catch everybody's eye Damn that guy:mad
I just hope that you were joking above. His last 3 series were very much worse than 'pathetic'.
Surendar you are making me defend Nehra:noway ,look he is no great bowler but is certainly better than Ishant ,has experience in bowling at death with the medium pace he has got and he is certainly second to Zak if experience is required . here is his last bowling performance

A Nehra 10 0 33 2 3.30

ever since he made come back to Odi side from 2009-2011.
Mat Inns Overs Mdns Runs Wkts BBI Ave Econ SR 4 5
48 48 362.3 15 2122 65 4/40 32.645.85 33.4 3 -

even in the series you mentioned he has taken 4 fers and at time bowled super tight 6o-10r-2w.

I mentioned Nehra as a backup to a experienced bowler if required and i have given enough reasons to justify it from my point of view.
If you find it funny its your choice and lets agree to disagree.
End of matter.:cheers

Ashish Nehra in the World T20 XI? Wow, the guy has tremendously changed his fortunes. But hope this does not get too heavy on him and make him think of ODI and test comeback. If he does that, he will be back again to the sidelines and possibly end his career faster than it can end. Nehra's success has been the fact that he has to bowl only 4 overs in the game and be on the field for only 20 overs. Hope he understands that and slots himself up as a T20 specialist. If he does that, he can probably serve India another 1.5 - 2 years. His seniority gives the bonus of being the helping hand for the rest of the bowlers. People mocked at him after that Bangladesh match when they saw him animatedly advising the rest of the teammates, but seriously he has the experience and if he can part it, he should. His 'blow hot and blow cold' performances does not mean he is not allowed to advice.

I think that is the end of Nehra's career. Next T20 WC is in 2020, not in 2018. So by the time of next T20 WC, he will be almost 41. Yes, he was fantastic for us this season but I think it's time we move on from him. As I have said before, it is also time to move on from Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh. Yuvraj is clearly past his best and it is time to give chances to someone like Manish Pandey.

Oops. Didn't notice his age. Probably you're right. Hope we can find another left arm seamer. We seem to be running out of them for the new generation. A good left arm seamer brings in that complex angle and the variety.

On Yuvraj - yes of course. Its time to move on from him now and give Pandey the opportunity.

I get it you guys are still busy consoling stokesy hence not in the mood for jokes :p

its a bit of tongue in cheek kind of satire..think its not your pallete..i found it good hence shared

You clearly did not see VK bat.

I did but Kohli was playing in home conditions, in front of home crowds with a team that was expected to win.

Root played in alien conditions, often with hostile crowds, with a crop of entirely inexperienced players and not only scored lots of runs but almost changed the final with his two wickets.

It's close between the two but the fact that Root was so far from home, edges it for me.

LOL doesn't that put MORE pressure on him? Kohli basically carried the the Indian batting and led them to semi final on his own. Root didn't have to carry England's batting because both Roy and Butler were also doing well. Kohli also batted on all the surfaces which were slow and low compared to Root who mostly batted on batting friendly surfaces apart from Final.

Nailed it! +1

Root basically batted on laid out surfaces for batting, and a very poor SA bowling unit that seemed so intent on bowling to his pads and short and wide of him for some reason.

taking nothing away from root but VK was miles ahead this tournament, in terms of conditions, pressure and bowling he was up against, there is literally no point of comparison there.

Let me make this clear to you that Indian crowd is not like other country crowd where they support only the home team. Apart from Women's matches, there was full house for all the games for Men's matches irrespective of host/home team or away/visiting team.

Root played in alien conditions, often with hostile crowds, with a crop of entirely inexperienced players and not only scored lots of runs but almost changed the final with his two wickets.
I can't control my laughter reading this. If you are unaware about "Asia Cup" then watch the highlights of all the matches played by India in "Bangladesh". The crowd was giving their support to only Host team. Apart from India-Pakistan match, there was no crowd for games played by other teams. It was a full house for all the matches where Bangladesh team was involved.

Let me alter your statement - Virat played in alien conditions, often with hostile crowds, with a crop of entirely out-of-form/flop players and not only scored lots of runs but Won us the Asia Cup single handedly. Btw it was a bowling pitch providing no assistance for batsmen.

(Virat scored 80+ runs and grabbed the wicket of Johnson Charles in the semies who was playing fantastically)

It's close between the two but the fact that Root was so far from home, edges it for me.
So did Virat. He was consistent in Australia where he was highest run scorer with 3 fifties. He was the highest run scorer in Bangladesh where he score 2-3 fifties and missed one due to bad umpiring (although he scored 49 in that match) and same in WT20. The series which I mentioned includes 2 "Away" and 1 "Home".

Please don't get me wrong. I couldn't resist myself reading those post of yours' praising Root over Kohli. I do respect Joe and his game and I'm proud that he played well away from home and was a key to England's success in getting into the Finals. He was also in my Fantasy Team.

Well played Joe but you are not as best as Kohli.

LOL @ alien conditions.

So silly
