India in South Africa

Six for Dhoni brought up his fifty, Dravid joins in with a 4, then...

Dhoni falls :(
Irfan, IRFAN!!!

India's still got Pathan and Agarkar. Dravid will need to play some smart cricket around those two so they can have a chance. As long as Dravid stays, Saffies aren't in the clear.

Bhajji gets a four.
*Sigh*, I give up, we're not winning this...
Hope Bhajji can settle in for some batting practice nonetheless and score a 50...

India Sucks eggs........

But i'm still optimistic! cmon double century from dravid!!!!

lol, some one gave me neg reps for using too many smileys....

dravid gone!
Zaheer Century cmon cmon cmon!!!

Sehwag failed again. Drop him. After today's performance Kaarthick deserves a spot in the team, an di have a feeling he'll be good opening. He doesn't have to keep, even though he is a better keeper than Dhoni. Dhoni can still stay in the team as a regular batsman He can maintain his spot as the slogger at 6 or 7, or the slogger still at 3 :)

I haven't been impressed with the Indians recently. They have to start looking to the future for young players and they have to stop relying on Sachin Tendulkar because it is as if when he fails, the team fails. They need radical changes if they are going to challenge for the number one ranking in test and one-day internationals again.

Yes I 100% agree...they need to work on making Munaf Patel truly fast again and VRV Singh, a combination of both can be threatening front foot and back foot play (respectively) at 85+ mph and with Pathan the all rounder in the team it could be good.

This is my plan for the India team.

Dhoni
Sehwag
Dravid
Sachin Tendulkar (the God ;))
Raina for fielding
Kaif for fielding
Yuvraj
Pathan
Munaf
SreeSanth
VRV Singh/Harbhajan depending on pitch

RSA will be within 5 points of Australia in the ICC rankings if they white wash India 4-0.

I don't know, Jaffer might be a better option.

Well i am not too impressed with Sachin's return either.
Just one 141 against the Windies and the entir eIndia feels that he is back to his very best. The truth is he has never been able to play well since he sustained that elbow injury.

VRV ?
Are you ppl out of your mind ?
He couldnt bolw in INdia and I don't see him bowling that well in South Africa.

Tell you what...
we need Lakshmipathy Balaji back.
And in India,bowlers are just-overhyped.
None of them is touching 140+ leaving out Agarkar and Munaf. :(

Trescothick talks about pressure, but Tendulkar has 1 billion people relying on him to score runs every time, which results in bad performances.

No, he is truly quick, and done more than "touch" 140kph, on bouncy pitches he can be amazing I think.

I thought Karthick could have done well as a keeper and was hoping that Dravid would use him as one.

Dravid's eccentric field placements also resulted in Karthik fielding in the out-field
I mean,a keeper in the outfield ?

Whosoever gave Greg the coaching license ?????? :help

Truly remarkable performance this from India!!! Even though they were drubbed in Durban, I still had hopes on them also because the wicket was good to bat and all that!

The start was phenomenal, and I thought we will win today! But losing by 106 runs is just plain bull ****. Some one said India got to rely on young players (apparently an English fan and doesnt follow Indian cricket that much!). We cant expense all our older players. Even Dravid is old by that standard. We got to have players like Sachin who has not been doing too badly. He batted well in our last Durban match before he got a beauty from Nel. In the champions trophy, he has good scores too.

India need a blend of experience and youth. Right now, they are having it but they have lost whatever confidence they had. And they are not helped by an uninspiring captain. Truly, Dravid's captaincy needs a serious rethink after this tour. I dont think India can go too far in the WC with his captaincy.

I wasnt looking for a series victory. That was never in my mind. But what we needed was a fight till the end. Losing by 106 runs doesnt suggest a fight. Good that Dhoni scored a 50. But again on a good batting wicket. When will he play a good one on a wicket that is helpful for the bowlers?

I dont think Dhoni would have looked good in fielding. And Dhoni is their specialist keeper. The team wouldnt want to show Dhoni that his spot is under serious pressure by making Karthick keep. Thats the message that the team would have sent out to Dhoni had they made Karthick keep! Dhoni was good keeping.

And what the hell was that umpire doing? Kemp was OUT earlier when he tried to flick Kumble and edged it into Dhoni's gloves. It was OUT! The umpire gave it a wide!

VRV is nothing great! Yeah, as you say, Balaji can be tried again. No Nehra. Balaji is a very good swing bowler and has a decent pace too (much better than Irfan Pathan). Irfan is done and dusted! He seriously needs someone from the other end to apply the pressure. And when he didnt get anyone, he was simply thrashed! What did he bat today? 1 off 12 balls? I wish they make Irfan go back to domestic cricket or I wish they look beyond him!

What an inns by SA, looked for all money that they were in trouble but to get 270 after that start is some effort. Awesome batting by Kemp and Hall to get SA to such a big total. India had two starts which neither carried on to make a 100 but not much support after that.

Agreed on Pathan hes been washed up for a while now.

He needs coaching from a great like Imran Khan or Lillee to get his pace back, he already swings it loads.
