India in South Africa

Trust India to go from a winning situation to one very they lose very badly. Remember that test match against Pakistan recently? Pakistan were down for like 6 wickets for 20-odd runs and yet they came back to win resoundingly.

Laxman is called in, but I don't know if he'll play. This is so much more of a sink or swim moment for the rest of the players.

What the heck? Already things are so shoddy and horrible for us, now we lose our most important batsman who has been showing some form this tour which the other batsman have failed to show!

Anyways, Laxman is a good replacement, but he cant replace Dravid's presence in the team anyday!

If its a fracture, I dont know how Dravid will be fit for the first test of the tour! Since the test team is being picked on November 30th, I wish the selectors show some sense, and pick the experience of Saurav Ganguly over the younger blood. Saurav hasnt been in poor form now. he has runs behind him now (though not the consecutive centuries). but with dravid injured and the team in such low dumps, India needs his experience and his presence in the team!

Anyways, all hopes of salvaging this series to a tie is now "gone with the wind". all we can hope for is the batsmen to show some fight and look to come out of the slump!

With Dravid out, your already miserly chances have practically vanished into thin air.

I was just wondering, if Nel is fit, should he be brought back into the sqaud and replace Hall or should Nel come back and Hall should replace Langeveldt? Both Hall and Nel have played very well so far and have contributed greatly to both the wins. I personally think Nel should come back and Hall should replace Langeveldt.

India should have won that match. Kemp was all that stood in their way. I did see a bad umpiring decision and 2 dropped catches. Tsk Tsk. Catches win matches.

What a partnership between the two. Great hitting by Kemp. totally ruined Khans figures from being fantastic to average. The death bowling was a real weakness.

We need at least one win under the belt before going into the Tests.
Dhoni did well and the bowlers started very well. We do have a couple of positives from this ODI.

Oh Yeah! Oh Yeah!
When did your team ever do well in the Sub-Continent. Last I remember they got thrashed for 800 runs in Sri Lanka and got out on that same belter of a wicket for less than 200 runs.

Ganguly's a better ODI player right? But I dunno if he's go the technical faculties on SA pitches.

Laxman should have the technique to bat on these pitches and he should be able to do a similar job to what Dravid does. It would help if India can win the toss and bat cause they aren't having any success batting second.

true, they did not chase totals that well in the recent past. The problem is that, we shuffled the batting order so much over the last year...its taking time for ppl to adjust to one batting place.

Kaif should stay at no.3, Dravid at 4. and the rest depending n the situation.

Dhoni played a good innings, but this was a flat wicket, he struggled in sportive tracks. Its high time that India changes its tracks at home, you'll need both pacy tracks and the one's that spin as well.

I agree! We've got the cricketing resources! Parliament is already holding talks on what to do with the cricket team, why not go the extra step?

Prayers and spiritual offerings are being made for the team to get back on track! lolzz.. this is getting too serious now. the public is right against the team now. all the team needs is a resounding win to get the public behind them!

aussie1st, dravid's presence cant be replaced by laxman. and he is coming straight into an ODI (dont know if he will play the wednesday 4th ODI). it will be highly challenging for laxman to hit the straps straightaway! By then, the ODI series would be over! Indian bowling was promising, and we need to still think of squaring the series. anyways, lets hope laxman succeeds and helps the team!

Kaif at No.3? Doesnt look gud at all at No.3! Dravid is the best No.3!

if India can find a good opener who can partner Sachin, Sehwag would be a good one down (No.3). Sehwag and Sachin dont go well at opening. Sachin either gets bogged down when Sehwag is going hammer tongs at the other end or tries to match Sehwag shot for shot and gets out in the process. Sachin should open with some one else and Sehwag at one down!

Dravid is capable at no.4, probably suits the team best. You want to add balance to the batting line-up. He is going to retire in two-3 years, we want someone who can carry the responsibility, and Kaif is quite good. Has the technique and temperament.

Sehwag can either open or come down the order. Its not easy to find good openers, especially when you play away. We haven't played too many games away from home conditions. Sehwag and Sachin are probably the best we have now, can't change that. Sending Pathan at no.3 can be used a a strategy.

We'll need to find replacements for Agarkar. This guy can get wayward at times. It would be nice to have Balaji back, if he's up for it. We need someone who is tidy, and can pick up wickets in the middle overs. Kumble has done a great job, and we'll need more of that. Powar is also a temporary option, i feel sachin/sehwag/yuvraj can do better than him.
