India in South Africa

Dale Steyn killed the top order in the OD warmup, looks like he'll do the same here...

I hope Irfan doesn't get selected into the XI purely based on this innings. If he does, we are basically playing 6 batsmen+keeper+4 bowlers.

Then its tough to play with Bhaji and Kumble together! One wud be playin and one wud be sitting! Thats a risk in Test matches as Bhaji and Kumble can take majority of wickets than fast bowlers that too, trusting spin twins sounds more sense than trusting our current slow ( aka Fast ) bowlers! :)

Also Is Dravid fit for first test???

If Dravid isnt fit for first test, then we might go with 5 bowlers!

1) Sehwag
2) Jaffer or Gambhir
3) Laxman
4) Tendulkar
5) Sourav
6) Dhoni
7) Pathan
8) Kumble
9) Harbhajan
10) Munaf
11) Zaheer or Sreesanth

Looks are Sreesanth and VRV are looking good,Rest of SA dismissed for 138 giving India plenty of time to bat again get some runs especially the openers and then put them back on again sometime tommorow at lunch perhaps.

Ganguly and Tendulkar gone within the span of 2 balls.

wow... Jaffer have two ducks in a row!

Regarding Sachin's wicket,

cric info said:
it had some late inswing and just straightened after bouncing. Tendulker misread that one and he has to take the long walk back to the pavilion.

They made a spelling mistake there :p Unlucky Sachin!

And Ganguly once again dismissed by giving a catch to wicket keepr!

cric info said:
He gets a fine edge and van Jaarsveld, standing in as keeper for van Wyk, takes the catch at a comfortable height.

Ths was what i was kept on saying, Ganguly shd avoid having a soft corners for the opponent Keepers and slip fielders! :p

Anyways, as per cric info,Master and Prince departed in quick succession. :)

Gannguly gone for Duck..but surely he will be there in test team after good knock of 83 in 1st innings

Just curious - is the wicket giving help to the faster bowlers so much or have the Indian bowlers bowled extremely well? Because this performance seems sensational to me because we have scored 316 whereas they have scored a paltry 138.

But as usual, our top order fails again. This time, our Prince of Kolkatta has a failure, but I dont think this failure of his would work against him whent he first test team selection is finalised! He has shown enough of guts and determination in this match.

Since Jaffer has got two blobs this match, I would say try out Gambhir for the first game with Sehwag! What a pity? Sehwag's failure is now overshadowed by Jaffer's mega failure!

Its gonna be a real problem selecting the team for the first test now. Sreesanth and VRV both have done well, Pathan has done well, Zaheer has done well too. Definitely one spinner is sitting out for the first test. Most likely, it will be Harbhajan Singh. And I dont think they will risk Munaf (not that he is now a permanent member!). I think either one of Zaheer, Pathan, Sreesanth and VRV will be missing out. Most likely, it would be VRV though ideally, Pathan should be missing out. But he has scored a ton and hasnt bowled badly today!

Dhoni GONE again! Laxman looking good! Hope he gets to spend lot of time in the middle. We can then go in with two batsmen who have spent good time in the middle when the first test starts (if Pathan is selected, it would be three)!

6 LBWs by the Indian bowlers
Dada out for 0
But VRV was great, 3/35 off 8 overs, excellent. Only 1 wicket for Pathan (And 4 overs for 18 runs, are they taking my suggestion of letting him be a batsman and part-time bowler seriously?), Zaheer 2/22 off 7, excellent. Sreesanth was a mixed bag, 11.1 overs for 53 runs at 4.74 RPO, but still took 4 wickets, but since 3 were tailenders, he must have been bowling poorly. Bhajji didn't need to bowl.
Not good batting. Must be a killer wicket :)

Wicket giving help is the major thing as out Indian top order also have struggled! So there is something to be extracted from the new ball!

If the wickets behave similarly, then no doubts that 3 pace bowlers with Kumble in presence of Dravid (or) 4 pace bowlers with Kumble if Dravid is not fit for the first test! Pathan, Munaf and Sreesanth are better options!

If India is going with four pace bowlers, then it wud be tough to choose between Zaheer and VRV! I never expectd VRV to bowl well, though i have seen him bowling only once!

Its a dilemma now.

The top-order has failed, and no doubt India will go with 6 specialist batsmen (excluding Dhoni). Kumble is a definite yes, and i think Zaheer, SS and Pathan will edge through.

Idealy, and though I hate saying this, we need to drop Tendulkar. At least for a little while; unless he can pull through in the first test of course.

Thats not fair....i wonder what makes u to say that though! I really dont understand these types of views tbh!

Is Tendulkar alone struggling? Its been the entire Indian team struggling! Even Dravid was not comfortable.... Shewag is struggling...... If I am right, Yuvraj was struggling in CT! Dhoni wasnt comfortable in playing shots though he managed to do well..... our bowlers??? ahh.... this is the most affected department in recent days! Our bolwers forgot how to bowl ;) So, then we can drop entire Indian team itself aftr crushing losses in Carribean,DLF,CT and in SA :D ?

India's ODI Stats in last 4 series!( Matches Played-Won-Lost Format )

Carribean : 5-1-4
DLF : 4-1-2 ( One no result against Aussies )
CT : 3-1-2
SA series : 4-0-4

Total :- 16 matches 3 Wins 12 Losses 1 NoResult

There will be ups and downs in Cricket for evryone! Its not fair to drop Sachin alone and i tell u, there can no better replcement also if at all u drop him! I am sure it will go even more worse and not better!

Its almost like Aussie way of dropping Martyn ;) :p
