Indian openers tried their best, but without much success. Anyway they lasted about 10 and 11 overs for Dravid and Tendulkar to come and see of the new ball. Maybe they can build an innings. And Steyn was brought off a bit quickly. Only bowled three overs.

The openers have only themselves to blame for their first innings debacle. The way Jaffer was leaving his deliveries, it looked like he could judge one wrong, and he finally did!!!

Sehwag - oh my gosh!!! his test record is absolutely flattering. his technique is absolutely flawed, and he thinks slashing at deliveries is the best form of defence. finally, he tickled one to boucher, but he was to be OUT anytime.

Sachin looks pretty decent. Dravid looks a bit iffy to start with (oh he has got a blow on his body! damn ntini). but if dravid and tendulkar stay for another 50-60 runs, india can breathe a bit easier. but thats easier said than done. looks like another batting collapse! i think the batting might make us miss Irfan pathan today!

It was nice to see that sachin was able to score some runs! But openrs failed again.... I think we shd have tried Sunil's View, i.e, trying Pathan to open with Sehwag! But now, its important for these two ( Laxman & gangly ) not to throw away the wickets! This pair has played well many times before also, so they shd put another gud partnership, prbly 100+

Ganguly looks solid for the most part and might be able to get India out of trouble, Laxman needs to perform here. He needs to imagine this is Australia.

sachin made a 44 today, and hadnt he scored that, india would have been in an embarassing situation today and if people say india and south africa share even honours, its because of the efforts of sachin.

coming back to the game, i think its even stevens as Ravi Shastri said. The wicket is terribly hard to bat on. Its two paced and is aiding the seamers and will also aid the spinners. A total of 300 would tremendously help India and give themselves a good chance in this test match. It all depends on Ganguly and Dhoni now. Man, Ganguly looked damn composed and determination personified during that 14*. One ball, it looked the usual Ganguly when he tried to drive Nel without any foot movement. But for the rest of the part, he looked a totally different Ganguly than the one in the recent years! we wont be wrong if we place faith on him to place us in a better position tomorrow!

sachin was awesome until he played that unnecessary shot. dravid batted very well too but no one went on for a big one. laxman was looking good too. good that tendulkar, dravid and laxman made decent contributions today as opposed to the ODI's where the top order failed abysmally. now only the openers need to score some runs!

exciting day's play in store tomorrow. it was nail biting today when sachin and saurav played. when they play like this, its fun to watch!

I hope this is a low-scoring game. But something tells me that South Africa will make the pitch look far different. Also, VRV's selection is doubtful in my mind--although he has performed in the practice games, he always seems miles short in the real deal.
