Suresh Raina's days are being counted in international cricket. To be precise, Raina has three more days of international cricket (i.e. if he does pick up his form dramatically in the next three games). Dont know about Kaif. I think he will be retained because until Yuvraj comes back, we need some one like Kaif just to keep our fielding spirits high!
All in all, an expected performance. I expected India to be rolled over like this. Funny to see Greg Chappell reading a novel in the dressing room when the going is so disastrous for the team. The team simply doesnt learn from their mistakes. The incoming ball has been the team's nemesis. Dravid and Sachin, arguably the world's best two batsmen, fell to incoming deliveries. At this rate, a 4-0 defeat cant be ruled out.
The major difference between the two teams was "commitment". there was no type of commitment shown by the indians when they played. but the south africans displayed that in ample amounts when they took the field. for example, loots bosman's fielding, mark boucher near sensational catch off suresh raina behind the wicket, etc. when saurav ganguly was the captain, i was able to see some sort of commitment from the team to do well. but this team simply doesnt display any of it. i guess i have to live with this because indian cricket doesnt seem to change!
i am not saying that commitment alone is going to win you games. but its one of those important things. also, our batsmen dont seem to be positive to tackling the south african bowlers. why didnt tendulkar take on the attack over the south african bowlers? what was the need for tendulkar to play defensively when dravid came to the crease? he has to bat according to the attributes of the batsman at the other end. dravid was already a defensive player. so tendulkar should have taken the risks. its no big deal that sachin is the top scorer today. its a failure for him also!
