India in South Africa

It's not all over for India and must remember that this SA team was the team that defeated Australia in a ODI series at home so they are a real force at home.

my gosh india blown out of the water all out for less than 100 very poor indeed!! they need to get to grips with the conditions and fast!

4-0 To South Africa
And if we Indians win even one i'd be surprised.
I'm surprised that the calls for Chappell's head haven't come as yet.

Chappell started out so promisingly, Unfortunatly for India The batsmen bar Dravid and Tendulkar have been far too inconsistent and many don't live up to their potential.
Also the bowling attack blows hot and cold. Munaf Patel has come in and become a very good bowler at the top, but Harbahjan isn't bowling well at the moment.

I think we've had too much of Chappell and Dravid. It was only some of the matches that their experiments worked and still they did not stick to a single plan. They kept on bringing about too many changes....

It is high time now that selectors bring about a stable Indian side as the world cup comes near.... The side should be a well judged mixture of youth and experience and for that to happen big names like Ganguly and Kumble must come back....

poor poor batting by india in the 1st ODI...if they play like this here...forget about even winning a match in the whole tour...

another failure for ganguly gone for 6 :D  :crying :p

Ganguly 43 off 65 balls in the second innings (add that to his 118 in the previous match against North Zone in Duleep trophy)! How's that now???? Not a big one, I agree! But more than decent enough on a lively track! I am not here to stage a children's fight on ganguly's scores. But the truth is, he is far better than these Raina's, Mongia's and even Kaif's.

Some good things that the Members of our Indian parliament are doing

As usual, Pawar keeps backing the team for no reason! He has to say, perform or perish! Its going on for too long. Good that Vengsarkar is going to SA to convey the feelings of the nation to the team! But this reaction (the so called over reaction) of the Indian fans is required. Remember the 2003 World Cup? After a drubbing loss to Australia in the league game, the houses of several players were stoned. Tendulkar then issued a statement stating that the team would bounce back. And they did in truly great style. They need such shock treatments to come out of slumps!

Actually, Yuvraj is not that big a player to be missed, but right now, the team is making me miss him. He has evolved a lot in the past year or so and he is being surely missed here. He is a very good player of fast bowling and has the capacity to handle a good fast bowling attack. He is actually an unusual Indian player - good off fast bowling and suspect off spin bowling. Its unfortunate that he is missing here.

It has started! The members of our Parliament have already started calling for Chappell's head. If India continue this in this series, I think it will get even worse for Chappell!

It isn't Chappell's fault! The Indian batsmen (Raina, Dhoni, Mongia, Jaffer and even Kaif) are gutless, not much he can do!

I doubt any new batsmen will be flown to SA for the ODIs but may be there will be changes for the Tests. I agree that Ganguly could be given a chance but Laxman needs to be considered before Ganguly. The reason Ganguly was failing in batting in the latter stages was his weakness against short balls. Everyone even in India were targeting him with short balls. In bouncy wickets with a lot of pace in the South African team he would have a lot of problems. Laxman is much better in playing short balls and have consistently perfomed against countries like Australia which has good pace bowling. Ganguly could have less of a problem in the slow wickets in the West Indies if he is choosen to play there for the world cup.

Its a shame that you have reduced ganguly to such status that 45 is a good score for him.Remember in his best form there was no better odi batsman in the world.I myself will want him on the team but by strong domestic performance let him score 4-5 centuries then the selectors will have no option but to select him.i do not want him to go because somebody else is not better than him according to you.

And our politicans have more important jobs than just worry about cricket those stupid ministers what do they know about cricket to comment like this
 .People are dying and they are discussing about sports.

Yuvraj was in the form of his life he surely could have been great on bouncy tracks.

Chappel has no fault its just that its a genetic problem same as if you played south africa on a turner they could crumble.this is what makes cricket so good when you perform in alien conditions performance is remembered.

And also we need to be patient i think there are enough players in the team who know more about cricket than we do.

And regarding your comments about stoning players houses its pathetic.remember every player out there is playing for their career they need support not threats.its fans like you who are so frickle one day india is the best team the other day they are the worst.

Yuvi was injured...
Mongia should do better. he's just come from playing in Engald, seamer's wickets galore! And Raina's technique when he arrived revolved around playing late and footwork. I'm not suprised about Dhoni failing, bur Raina and Mongia! And even Kaif!
Gutless, they were just scared...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Yuvraj's average in 2006 was pretty near 50 right? I think he's evolved enough to be good on these pitches. Also, I think Laxman should also be flown in. Additionally, maybe some ex-SA batsmen can work with some of ours to teach them how to play on these pitch. I beleive De Villiers offered to do something similar with our bowlers.

On another note, I think it's wrong for the Parliament to debate on what to do with the Indian Cricket Team; they should be deciding on national policy, not what happens on and off the pitch. Issues of performance depending pay checks should be matter left solely to the BCCI, or solely on some cricketing organization.

Yuvi is highly unreliable.
He has been scoring well last year but i still do not see a great batsman in him.

Raina and Mongia are completely gone.I feel Ganguly and Laxman would defiantely be great replacements for them.

Kaif ! Well Zorax there's no need to be harsh on Kaif.Lack of match practise. If you are only going to make him play 1 out 10 matches this is going to happen. :mad

100 and 65 is good enough to warrant a Former India Captain a palce in the side :happy

First things First - Pawar is stupid and lacks knowledge of management. He visits the BCCI office just 2 hours a week !
He is not fit enough to lead the board.
Dalmiya was definately better.

Well,God knows what he meant by " West Indies also went through the same phase "
Does this mean that Indian cricket will have to wait another 10 years until its revival ?
Or are they playing to convert Indian Cricket into Indian Hockey ?

kaif should be given more chances because he keeps coming in and out..he needs some time...plus his athletic fieldings put him ahead of Raina and Mongia....yuvi and kaif keeps the fielding spirits up...Ganguly should be in the team and because he got expereince that the team really need now to guide young players...well i think Laxman should play tests but not ODI's because hes a slow batsmen...Chappel's should go...never thought he was good for india...Dravid on the other hand should be given time
