i am happy they are :D time for little changes! RSA needs it. they always lose the crucial matches, and end up with nothing. might as well have this. Sri Lanka is gona be up there pretty soon. good fight!

India got a boost in the ODI rankings, but got a slight kick in the test rankings (Sri Lanka are now third, by the decimal point calculation). If Sri Lanka has more tests this year, they could have a good chance to strengthen their lead over India, which would be bad for India. But a possible hope is to see Australia lose the Ashes. If they lose the Ashes, India become third again, and Australia fall down to 4th. :rtfl:laugh THAT'LL BE FUN!

We deserve this ranking in ODI's and the battle with SA. Our ODI form has been extraordinary in the last year (it all started right from that CB series in Australia, or even further behind from that). We have beaten so many sides in their own backyard. It would be thrilling to see India play South Africa. I think it will be a terrific contest (though South Africa might be a little better, both sides are known to choke though SA a little more). SA is more aggressive in everything (that makes them look far more threatening than they do) but they are almost equal.

saisrini80, india and sri lanka play in just a couple of months, sri lanka can't extend the lead because they won a series 2-0 against SA about 2 years ago, so even if they whitewash NZ (Which I would bet they will) those points drop will drop off

SL in india should be a good series to see who comes out on top.

I think India will be overwhelming favorites to beat Sri Lanka in India. We beat Australia so convincingly when they came to India last year. We have been almost unbeatable at home although our home record has taken a minor hit in the past few years. Last time, SL were thumped 6-1 in an ODI series and I believe we easily won the test series too (though dont remember the scoreline).

SL have a good chance to cement their position at No.2 when NZ visits Sri Lanka (non-subcontinent teams find playing in the subcontinent very tough and SL are also almost unbeatable at home).

I wouldn't say "overwhelming" I think india are definitely favourites due to home conditions and the massive quality gap in the openers. india's top 2 are the best in international cricket and sri lanka's are probably among the worst along with new zealand, even the windies have gayle, but things even out. I don't think that india's middle order is that much better, if at all, it just has the bigger names, but a look at the player rankings tells you that it's sri lanka with 2 middle order batsmen in the top 10 and india with none.

I think the last series isn't really relative anymore, it was over 3 years ago, before sangakkara was batting full time while now he's rated the best in the world, but more importantly, it was a few months before they came back from a test down and drew in england which was a turning point in sri lankan cricket.

as always with SL it depends more on certain key players performing whereas with india the match winners can be anyone so they do have the edge. Just wouldn't be surprised if sri lanka do it. they can score big totals and they have bowlers to trouble anyone.

With Aussies recent struggle against spin I dont see that happening in sub continent.

As long as

I don't think anyone here really cares...

As long as we win the next World Cup, I don't care how crap we've been in the 2 years before it. 4 in a row would be nice :p

Brother ,, there is a vast difference between a World Champion and a No 1 Team:D

and as far as think, it is more hardest to be a no 1 team in a period rather than t o be a world champion wheter 4 in a row or 5

@biggy can you stop saying bad's to india.Whenever any person celebrate any festival or happy thing for india why people who are not indian target it.If india are no.2 in cricket ranking it's very big thing for india but not for australia because now they go down in ranking down then india.;)
