India Team Discussion

Whoa hold on a second. He'll definitely be in the mix of things in the future, but how could he play now? He needs a few years in the domestic scene, then only can he play for India. The best thing to do is not to rush with selection.

Similar mentality the great Aussie and WI teams had and look what happened to them.

I agree with Author give him a go. They broke rank when they gave Hardik a try and look at the revelation he has been!

A little embarrassed here that I had to look up who Prithvi Shaw is. Strange that this is the first I've heard of him [HASHTAG]#SoOutofLoop[/HASHTAG]

Okay, so India don't have another Test until 1st August - could Prithvi Shaw be at the top of the order for it?
I don't want to see him in Indian team so early. Let him sweat it out in domestic season first and see how he performs. Anyway Ranji trophy is starting soon. Moreover there is no place for him in the team right now. And more than him, other guys like Shreyas Iyer is in contention.

Sachin made his debut as a teenager didnt he? Age 16 or something? Is it that they/you want to keep guys like Shaw from debut early as to preserve the Sachin life records?

Really I cant see what the opposition is!

lol.
When sachin played at that age, I had no idea about these stuff. If the situation then was similar to what it is now, I would have said the same thing. My point is, the kid has played handful of matches. Let him play more and get some experience. There are other guys like Iyer, Panchal who are ready to play in this level. Moreover there is no place for any batsmen in our team as everyone are in good form and we already have good back up batsmen too.

I havent seen Shaw played live as yet, from what i read he seems an immense once in a generation batsmen. These guys dont need experience they are genius, and you always try your best 11 dont you?

There is surely a 3 test series starting from January in South Africa and in the meantime Shaw has U 19 world cup and Ranji Trophy to make a case for himself. Prithiv Shaw is a seriously good player for such a young age and has done well in the limited opportunities he got - he was a last minute replacement in both Ranji Trophy Semi-Final for Shreyas Iyer (another prolific run scorer in the domestic cricuit) and even in the Duleep Trophy match which is being played currently. Maybe a long term assessment in the upcoming season could be vital to prove whether or not he is ready for the international arena.

Ofcourse you try your best XI. About bolded part- media might exaggerate things. I have nothing against him. I just think it will be immature if we draft him in the main team and if he is a flop, it will even affect him mentally.
Look. What I said is my opinion and I think I have explained it clearly? And I stand by it. How much ever talent you have, I believe in hard work and experience. Let him play atleast one season of Ranji and gain that experience. I will be more than happy if succeeds, obviously.

I agree with the media hype, its India afterall.

Trying him in the IPL would be the best test of his ability against top international players. International is too far for someone who just started.

I beg to differ. Call me old fashioned but I view T20 cricket similar to fast food like KFC or Mcdonalds it appeases you shorlty but leaves you with a lifetime of competition against acheiveing what you were really meant to achieve as a pure cricketer!

I hate it too, but trying him in the IPL against top ones is better than giving him a chance to play for India which you suggested.
