India Team Discussion

One day you see trends of HarHarModi, next day you see trends of ChowkidarChorHai .. these things change by the hour
Are you sure they are the same people who trend the hashtag completely opposite of what they we're trending few hours ago?

Few are Modi supporters who trend HarHarModi and few are Congress supporters who trend [HASHTAG]#ChowkidarChorHai[/HASHTAG]. They are not the same people changing their minds. And this time both Right Wingers and Left Wingers are United for the sake of National Security.

Water to Pakistan has been cut off. Cricket match will be intervened by govt for sure. Even if BCCI wouldn't mind playing match against Pakistan, Ministry of External Affairs wouldn't allow the match.

They might not be the same people. All I am saying is, twitter trends are hardly something you can judge sentiments of people and definitely not of the majority. Especially on political issues because they are strongly skewed by paid PR's and IT cells. Very often I have seen the opinions of people around us in the REAL world differing from the virtual world.

If that happens, then fair enough - we can boycott the game. At the end of the day, BCCI has clearly said that they will follow what the government instructs them. But this sentiment that ICC will go as far as banning Pakistan from the World Cup is silly. It is a WORLD tournament. ICC has been opposing BCCI on many of their stances recently. We don't have as much clout as we think we did

I hope you read about the statement made by International Olympic Association, after we denied Pakistani participants Visa for the Shooting World Cup in India. It is going to severely hurt our chances of getting participants to qualify for shooting events in Olympics because of this move - one of the very few sports in which we always get medals. Its going to be the same. We will hurt more than the ones we are trying to hurt - because we stand to lose more[DOUBLEPOST=1550812122][/DOUBLEPOST]
Water to Pakistan has been cut off.

This was a good move. Not a big impact one, but still a good statement

An article which quotes a source saying that government has sent a message to BCCI not to play the match against Pakistan.

Yeah, when I read this it looked like this was final. But again this turned out to be just another report. Don't think the government made any such statement

Because The official stance is very diplomatic. A letter to ICC to disengage with countries supporting terrorism in account of security fears, with no names taken.

Now Gavaskar and Sachin are trending on Twitter and being called anti national :) sachin being asked to return his Bharat ratna and leave the country in that trend

That my friends is the twitterati and Twitter trends for you

16th June is too far away right now. Imagine the match gets the green signal amidst all the drama it rains whole day and the match gets abandoned due to rain.

have not seen a pathetic social platform as twitter.

Going for pak isolation from world cup and cricket itself.

That's an insult to me even as an Indian ! From international cricket too ? That's quite a far thing . :facepalm

Now it's becoming an "over-raging + over-sensible" stuff . Just say no to the World Cup this time . That solves it .

However, the BCCI official added that ICC is unlikely to discuss the topic of boycotting as it isn't a 'feasible option'.

“The ICC is in no position to ask any cricket board to sever ties with another member nation. It doesn’t have the right to do so. This is a diplomatic issue which is dealt with at the government level. A member board can always discuss the issue if they want but one can be rest assured that nothing will happen,” said the official.

Earlier in the day, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly expressed that BCCI will have less than one per cent chance of ICC supporting their move. "The ICC is a separate institution, World Cup is a separate institution and I feel it is very difficult to implement this here. This is my personal view that banning Pakistan from the World Cup or international cricket won't be possible. World Cup is still far away and we will see what happens then. But in my opinion, it will be very difficult for India or the Indian government to go to ICC and ask for a ban on Pakistan from the World Cup or international cricket. There's less than even one per cent chance of this happening," Ganguly told IndiaTV.

Latest on this.. I feel the same way

Finally some reasonable talk. The fact that we were even considering this (banning a country from WC) was ridiculous. If the Government is determined to not have India play Pakistan, the best approach would be to sit out of the WC. Just forfeiting the group stage match is also not a feasible option as there is a chance of meeting Pakistan again in the knockouts - however small that may be.

Of course there would legal and financial implications if BCCI does go ahead with it but that's another matter.

Ajinkya Rahane on his run for India in limited overs Cricket

"It feels good that I am being considered. But at the same time, you need to get a chance. Things can change anytime. And like every player even I harbour dreams of playing in the World Cup. So yeah, I am hopeful"
