India tour of England Aug-Sept 2021

Who will win the Test series?

I propose that for the rest of the series, each match should start with the following:
1. Root starts his innings at 100
2. Anderson start his spell with 5 wickets to his name
3. England start their innings two down for 24

This will save wasting time on the inevitable, and will prove especially useful in any rain-affected match.

To protect Anderson from injury he does not bat and the scorecard reads: b (probably) Bumrah 0

I must say that Root has made a great progress as far as his conversion rate is concerned. Previously he used to throw away his starts after scoring in the range of 40-70 and this year he has converted most of his 50s into hundreds. And not just that, he has scored valuable runs when it mattered the most for his team.

Ironically, Virat Kohli is struggling to convert his scores into centuries and important runs for India which at one stage he was so good at. Is this actually a lean patch or a decline in his career itself?

So India to start day 4 (almost like a start of a new match where an innings begins with the day). I presume the weather will become cloudy and overcast again :p

In all seriousness, India has squandered the advantage and England has done the exact opposite. What should have been a 50-75 run lead has now ended up as 23 run deficit.

Two days to go, two innings left. Just hope that Rahul and Rohit continue their form because our #3, #4 and #5 are under immense pressure which is likely to affect them negatively.

The big positive is that India has been able to skittle out the opposition's lower order and tail in a matter of 50-80 runs.

Here's hoping to India being able to score at least 275 to make a match of it. Don't think it's gonna be difficult to bat last in this Test.

I was thinking 'this is easily Root's best form since he became captain,' but this is the best form of his career.

I really don't think India have squandered anything. I doubt England would've batted as well in those conditions on day 1. Then the conditions have fallen in England's favour, like they did in the second innings at Trent Bridge. The seamers have bowled well again, they just ran into Root. You take out his runs in both matches and India win the first test and would be well on their way to 2-0 in this one.

I wouldn't blame India much for yesterday's performance. Yesterday was the most easiest day for batting. No swing, consistent bounce and pace, clear skies and many more things contributed to England's batting. We had to score around 400 which we failed to do. I think Day 2 was something where India gave it away to England. I think this match might very well end in a draw.
