I doubt England would've batted as well in those conditions on day 1.
That is the advantage I was referring to. Having outplayed England on Day 1 (given that Root had won the toss), India ended up with a mearge 360+. It's a decent score for a visiting team but not when you begin the day from 280/3 and especially when things got better from that day onwards.

I wouldn't blame India much for yesterday's performance. Yesterday was the most easiest day for batting. No swing, consistent bounce and pace, clear skies and many more things contributed to England's batting. We had to score around 400 which we failed to do. I think Day 2 was something where India gave it away to England. I think this match might very well end in a draw.
Like I alluded to above, my point was about what happened on Day 2. Day 3, I pretty much agree that India did all they could. Root was unmovable and got ample support from Mo, Burns and YJB.

Morning Session will perhaps dictate the plays balance for the remainder of this match.

Gotta a feeling that India might lose their openers early this time.

Going for reverse jinxing I see…..!

in that case can see India 100-0 at lunch with England on back foot

A vital inning coming up for both Pujara and Rahane. They both need a big score here to save India and their respective spot in the line-up.

India on 15th August batted on 4 occasions

1952- 49/5 vs England (Match Drawn)
2001- 187/10 v/s Sri Lanka
2014- 148/10 v/s England
2015- 112/10 v/s Sri Lanka

Today is the 5th occasion
Remember the 2014 one.

Historically in cricket never performed well on 15th.

Good bowling or very cautious batting approach? The problem with going at 1.8 rpo is that once you lose 1 or 2 wickets, you suddenly find yourself in a spot of bother with not much on the board.

It's another thing if the bowling's been tight but I feel Indian batsmen are being overtly cautious.

Very cautious batting approach because the ball is not doing much for pacers - you do have pujara on crease, so that is expected. Rahane has taken risks, had some close shaves and also cracked some nice shots but straight to the fielders (curse of being out of form)

Moeen is looking dangerous

Good Resilient fifty this from Rahane.

Pujara solid as a rock too.
