Just a matter of 1 wicket boys, just one simple "outside the off stump line wicket taking ball" and then suddenly we are 80-5.

England is just teasing us. Raising false hopes and then going for the kill :p

A little more hopeful Kohli will score this time. He was our 2nd best batsman in the 1st innings and he left the ball quite beautifully which he hadn't done before this match. England must blame Root & Burns!!!!

Test match is on a knife edge. This 4 seamer policy has been in my opinion dodgy from the get go. The runs Shardul has got very much Ashwin is capable of. It's the wickets and threat Ashwin poses in the second innings which Shardul cannot offer.

We also need to realise, we don't have a seaming all rounder and we don't need one. Our two spinners are good enough to do holding jobs in the first innings and plug an end up depending on the batsman. Three seamers are always enough and I don't subscribe to the theory that our spinners are not attacking enough to pick wickets. You need to also understand that England bat very deep and we need someone at 7 at least who can bat with the tail as well as with a top order batsman. That's why Jadeja becomes an automatic inclusion.

As far as the seam bowling options go. For me, Shami and Bumrah are no brainers and it's the work horse you need to pick. Ishant would have been the first pick but he looks out of sorts so then Siraj does that part. Umesh has bowled some magic balls and got some wickets but as I have said always that he lacks control and I think consistency in selection always lets us down.

If you rewind to Australia, I was screaming from the hill tops to include KL, but we had other ideas. If we lose this series, it's down to the fact that we have not picked the right balance as usual and the fact that none of the top 5 have had a daddy series. You either need one batter to have a career defining series or for one of the top 5 to stand up in all tests. Pujara, Kohli and Rahane have all batted well but it's been patchy. It doesn't mean we need to make changes, it just means we need to back them and hope that things come to us. I'm not including Rohit in this list because hundreds are overrated. He's done a brilliant job and had the most awful decision handed to him when it seemed like he was set for the big one. But, he has provided the platform on almost every occasion.

You should be posting more often mate. Each of your post in this thread has been dead right!!!! We followed the same 4 seamers strategy last time as well but what was different that time was we had Hardik Pandya. A fully fit Hardik Pandya straight away slots in a 6 as a seam bowling all-rounder but I think he is just done with the longer form of the game since his fitness is just not good enough for a Test player. I could see Bhuvi never playing a Test match for us now.

Also please address the issue why don't we get enough swing unlike the NZ & Eng pacers? Is it like our pace bowling doesn't suit these conditions unlike Aus, South Africa & West Indies where they tend to do better?

Can't help but wonder if Kohli's "template" phrase is coming back to bite him. He has mentioned it 2-3 times already in post match presentations, and perhaps now he feels obliged to stick to it. Other than that, it makes little sense to have your best attacking spinner warming the bench for so long. Whether Ashwin might have had success or not is another discussion. But with Ashwin you know he will always be a wicket taking option.

Indian batsmen need to avoid committing on the front foot as long as possible while facing Woakes. The man is moving it like anything. If they do play on front foot then they have to play it late and with soft hands or else there would be loss of wickets.

Pandya doesn't make the side as a batter. Even fully fit. I've been too caught up to post.

All these wickets are ok because they are coming from some really good deliveries which the batsmen couldn't avoid. A little similar to Kohli's wicket in the 1st innings. That one was an inswing and this one an outswing.

I love Puajara's approach here. Let's go for the kill!
This series we had a swap of files between Rohit and Pujara! Rohit has been solid as Pujara and Puji has been as aggressive as Rohit!

Still Ind will lose this match
