India tour of Ireland (2 T20Is) & England (1 Test, 3 ODIs & 3 T20Is)

Agarwal
Gill
Pujara
Kohli
Vihari
Pant
Jadeja
Thakur
Shami
Bhmrah
Siraj
Agarwal isn't playing. It's one of Bharat or Vihari to open alongside Gill.

India is specifically known to fumble in those areas as well.

If you're referring to who I think you're referring to, the last 2-3 years should indicate what will transpire when he walks out to bat.

Now we're talking :p

True, we seem to posses a slightly more potent attack than NZ but you can't expect them to bowl oppositions out under 200 every time. Not when your batsmen have hardly given you enough cushion to attack.

Ouch! That still hurts :(
That's sounded so much like the usual @asprin

That's absolute bullshit, when you have a designated opener, why would you tweak it up?

News is coming that Pujara will open with Gill.

I think it makes sense for Agarwal to open since he is next in line with the contention after Rohit, KLR & Gill. He has got experience of playing for India in Overseas conditions.

The reason someone from team management stated was that Mayank doesn't have practice since more than a month.

While Vihari and Bharat both have played a practice match recently in English conditions. Bharat was in good touch as well.

Vihari is already in the first 11 no reason for him to get dropped all of a sudden

Gill
?
Vihari
Kohli
Iyer
Pant

This has to be the top 6 really. Other opener will probably be Pujara or Mayank. Don't see Bharat opening spontaneously despite his form in the warm up. Just too big a role difference and his domestic numbers dont hold up

And who asks for it?

My line-up would be same as the one posted by @AliB

Jadeja and 4 pacers worked for us the last time so better not to change a winning combination. Also I agree with Bharat not being thrown into opening the batting.

England have named their XI

Lees
Crawley
Pope
Root
Bairstow
Stokes (c)
Billings
Potts
Broad
Leach
Anderson

GG, although Billings looks like a surprise pick. More attacking cricket?
Did you see Billings keep in the previous game? Because I feel he isn't much different from Foakes with the gloves on. Batting wise I rate Foakes higher than him.

Will rather have that new guy Bharat over Agarwal.

Bharat had more prep time and is coming off after a decent outing in the warmp up

Foakes is testing negative, but apparently still feeling like death so he sits out the game.

Hopefully they're still making Billings drive through the night to get to the ground.

I was thinking about Pant and Jadeja. Pant particularly being a player who can turn a game in a session.
