aving lost two ICC tournaments in 2 years, not making the final in one of it. having lost test tours of England and South Africa. And all this does not warrant a captaincy review? WOW!
But given that you are massively biased in favour of Kohli’s captaincy for some reason, I doubt you would appreciate it.
Sourav Ganguly also lost in 2 ICC tournament Finals, never won a Test Series in England, South Africa or New Zealand. Did his Captaincy faced a review ?
MS Dhoni's Indian Team were Eliminated in Group Stages of ICC WT20 2009, ICC CT'09, ICC WT20 2010 and ICC WT20 2012. India were whitewashed in Australia & England under him while they lost 3-1 in England the 2nd time they toured there. They played defensive Cricket in 2010 South Africa tour on the last couple of days of the 3rd Test which cost them first series win in South Africa. India lost to England at home in Test Series 2-1 to England. First time in 27 years!!! Did his Captaincy come under review ?
If MSD's captaincy at that time did not come under review, it was WRONG. I do not recollect what opinions I had at that time, but I do remember a time when I did want MSD to step down from captaincy and I believe it might have been during the period that you're talking about. And I believe there were reviews of captaincy during those times and there was even one popular story that N Srinivasan intervened to save Dhoni's captaincy when it was reviewed and suggested that he should be removed from captaincy.
A previous wrong doesn't make things happening right now, correct. My opinion stands. As Gavaskar says, to our best knowledge, Kohli was captain till the World Cup and to name him captain without even officially reviewing his captaincy (even if that review lasts for 5 minutes) sends out the message that "he is unshakeable despite results".
I believe there should be longetivity in something that is being followed. You can't change your Captain in just a 2-year period unless he has been miserably poor. Say for eg- Jason Holder is leading the West Indies team despite not getting results. And they still kept him for about 4 years. The result was he did deliver with a series win against England. And that wasn't just a win but a comprehensive win where England didn't stand a chance. I believe Virat Kohli should stay atleast for one more year and then we can take an action in case he doesn't do well.
2 years is a enough longevity to prove your worth. There are lots of other people who want the job and you cant just keep sitting in there because you need to be given 'enough time'. This is not like politics where you get a 4 year term.
The fact is despite being poor Virat Kohli is getting results and that is what is important criteria that is taken into account while selecting a Captain for a particular team. Cricket has changed a lot, nobody takes quality into account ahead of results these days. And I don't see anyone who can Captain the side apart from Kohli. You might say Rohit can be a better option but the fact is the quality of MI has covered up for the loopholes in his Captaincy.
Also I would like to put up few random facts here
All these proves Rohit isn't much ahead of Virat either.
- India lost by 3rd biggest margin in terms of balls remaining in ODIs when Rohit Captained India
- They lost by their biggest margin in terms of runs in T20Is when Rohit Captained India.
- Hong Kong had almost beaten India in Asia Cup when Rohit was the Captain
- India nearly lost the Asia Cup Final to Bangladesh again Rohit was the Captain
- Rohit made a blunder of sending Vijay Shankar ahead of Dinesh Karthik in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 Final
And your last 3 bullet points - seriously?
He is injured.
Where is Dinesh Karthik[/QUOTE
