tour news:

West Indian cricket board have made a few surprise selections for the test series ,the first one mainly being the inclusion of Carlton Baugh to keep wicket ahead of Ramdin , others who get the chance in the test team are Samuels & Morton ,Dave Mohmammed is the only full time spinner picked which was a surprise ,maybe we might see Sarwan & Gayle get in a few overs.

India vs West Indies 1st Test :

Day 1

Hinds Exellent knock all in vain

The 1st test at Nagpur got under way when Rahul Dravid won the toss and put the tourists into bat . Chris Gayle and Wavell Hinds started the series off and it wasn`t long before we had the first wicket , Gayle was clean bowled by Zaheer Khan for 8 , Brian Lara then came to the crease and was looking for a good score having not played well in the ICC trophy recently , he started off by smashing Pathan for two boundries in succecive deliverys ,but his days were numbered when he tried to edge one he got too much bat on it and played it right into Sehwags hands at 1st slip off Kumble for 24 .
Things changed though for the tourists when Chanderpaul & Hinds joined up as they racked up a partnership of 145 for the 3rd wicket , but India came storming back in style Chanderpaul (78) & Hinds (94) fell in the same over to Harbaijan Singh and the whells came off the innings big style as thr west indies went from 198-2 to 216-7 in a short time , the Indian seemers returned to finish off the tail to leave the tourists 240-all out .
With only 8 overs left in the day India had no problems and at stumps were 15 without loss.

India vs West Indies 1st Test

Day 2

Ganguly gives India the edge on day 2
Saurav Ganguly`s knock 0f 85 insured India had the upper hand on day 2 of the 1st test , the West Indies will rue their actions on the field as they put down two catches first of which came in the second ball of the day, Lara dropping Sehwag off Taylor . Rahul Dravid hit a patient 64 before giving a thin edge to 2nd slip off Collymore ,the indian captain would have been furious with himself as there was only two overs to go of the days play .

Nice presentation Super Baz, I like the amount of detail you are providing with your summaries and scorecards, and the photos you have used are well chosen too.
The only thing I would suggest to improve the story is to include the balls faced and the fours and sixes for the batsmen and score when they were dismissed (e.g. S.Ganguly c and b Lara 10 (100 balls) 1 four, 1 six, 29/5), but then again I'm a cricket stats nut and maybe those things aren't as important to you as they are to me.

Day 3

Indian tail press home advantage with the bat

India moved into a strong position after day 3 of the 1st test , Irfan Pathan was the unlikely hero smashing an unbeaten 88 , Anil Kumble pitched in with a 40 and Harbaijan made a solid 31 , after a long day in the field for the Windies India were eventully bowled out for 436 giving them a 196 run lead after the 1st innings .
The West Indies 2nd innings started just after tea and it wasn`t long before CHris Gayle was back in the pavilion when he was adjudged lbw for 10 off the bowling off Zaheer Khan , Brian Lara stepped up to the crease with a good knock needed but disaster struck the windies with 3 overs left of the days play Wavell Hinds sliced one to point and then a over later Lara misjudged a Harbaijan delivery and was stumped for 46 ,the windies finished the day on 99-3 .

India vs West Indies 1st Test

Day 4

India cruise to victory in 4 days

India wrapped up the 1st test just after tea on day 4 , the Windies started the day off at 99-3 with Chanderpaul & Sarwan at the crease and it was important these two stayed there for as long as possible with two big knocks required but India had other ideas . Sarwan was first to go edging to 3rd slip off Pathan then two overs later Bravo was lbw Pathan for 2 ,the panic button was pressed when Chanderpaul was another lbw victim this time to man of the match Kumble for 39 . A possitive for the Windies to take from the match was the unbeaten 59 by Carlton Baugh unlucky for the toursits nobody was able to help him , Windies were bowled out for 265 leaving India 70 to win.
Sehwag went about it one-day style with a quick 35 before giving a thick edge to Gayle off Collymore , Ganguly(28) and Tendulkar(2) fisnished off the run chase .
