Moeen Ali to play for CSK this year and get MVP.
Still they won't be able to win this yearI think RCB will buy Morris and Shivam in the auction at a lower price.
I disagree, while it's unfair to Smith it's actually a smart move by RR. Having built their team around Smith last season and thus occupying one of their overseas slots they lacked team balance and couldn't play an extra overseas batsmen at 5/6 or even play an valuable overseas allrounder to help their weak bowling attack. This move allows Samson to rightfully take the #3 slot as his own, and even allow Stokes to play in a more natural role at 4 if he doesn't want to open, giving Jaiswal or one of the young domestic talent to bat at the top with Buttler. More importantly they can play use an extra overseas slot to play a allrounder like Tom Curran.Rajasthan Royals mull releasing Steven Smith
His weak impact as a leader and batsman featured prominently in franchise's 2020 season review, ESPNcricinfo understandswww.espncricinfo.com
Well that is stupid from Royals. KKR should go after him and get him if he is released.
Expected releases from CSK. Would've been an outrage if Jadhav wasn't released. He became a deadly villain in IPL 2020. Though he had a decent SMAT 2021, no way CSK fans would have accepted to CSK retaining Jadhav. Now hope they actually move on from Jadhav and dont think of buying him back at lower price.
Hope CSK take the dash for Krishnappa Gowtham, who has been released, for Harbhajan Singh. A good off spinner and a lower order hitter.
@LiveLoveABD - CSK need an overseas big hitter and only one slot left. I dont think they will opt for a bowling allrounder in Moeen Ali. I think CSK might go for Sam Billings again, who it seems has been doing well (I heard).
I think Gautham will make it to CSK but I think they like to have a backup for every spot and that's why I chose Moeen Ali. I know people think he's not a big hitter but he has a SR that's more than AB de Villiers and that is no mean feat. An off spinner was highly lacking all of last year and Moeen is also someone that can open, bat in the middle, finish and basically just has CSK written all over him. If I were CSK, I would have honestly released Bravo. They already have Sam Curran and he's exactly the sort of cricketer CSK will look at keeping beyond 2021. Also don't see the worth of Bravo if Curran plays. I think CSK will go for Moeen Ali, Steve Smith and may be Aaron Finch.
One of my friends who used to play Ranji heard that Uthappa has moved to CSK, but clearly not.
For IPL 2021, CSK can only get one more overseas player since they released only Watson (due to retirement) and their overseas quota is filled (except for Watson)
Social media is abuzz that CSK might go after Glenn Maxwell, considering his "batting against spin" abilities and the fact that CSK is light on the middle-lower order. CSK have opening backups in Narayan Jagadeesan and Ambati Rayudu. They should focus to bolster their middle-lower order hitting when they search for the 'Watson replacement'. That for me rules out Jason Roy (who is not a lower order player). And also Steven Smith, who is more of a top order batsman. Actually now after seeing Moeen's strike rate, maybe it might not be that bad to go for him. Moeen Ali or Glenn Maxwell give the useful off break bowling and some serious lower order/finishing hitting.
Will be interesting to see who CSK can get as replacement for Chawla. He was expected to be the prime leggie for us. Karn Sharma is not as reliable. Waiting to see leggie options available at auction.
Thank god CSK didn't trade him in. I was kinda praying that CSK tried a trade with SRH for Virat Singh (for Raina or Santner). I hope Virat Singh is in CSK's radar for 2022
I think RCB released him due to his high price of 5 CroresExcellent from RCB. What wrong did Shivam Dube do to deserve this? So sure MI will pick him up now.
