Indian Premier League - General Discussion

Stadium sponsors would disagree.
More so they need to blast the newly renamed stadium name to the public until it's ingrained in their mind.
Entire IPL to shift in Narendra Modi stadium. Modi Mavericks to lift the trophy. BCCI now a subsidiary of GOI. Cricket now a sport under the Pradhan Mantri Khel Vikas Yojna scheme.

Even without the IPL occurring the lockdown may have been in place in any case due to the upsurge in cases.
The point isn't about lockdown. The thing is with IPL going on there are chances the cases can go up. So there you are risking both the players and the population.

But money is coming in so its okay

Point taken. I didnt think of it this way but this is very true with the IPL activity it opens the possibility of higher infection. Very good for bringing up this.

It is a PJ house.

Pollock, Mbangwa, Jadeja and Vaughan are the only one's worth listening to.

Bhogle has been properly neutered after his BCCI axe and rehiring. He has also started cracking an insane number of pathetic jokes and don't even get me started on that host GK.

Try Cricinfo. The likes of Moody, Chopra, Dasgupta and above all GG!! They talk to the point and business stuff. Manjrekar is there unfortunately.

Sanjay Manjrekar is a bit more tolerable when he doesn't have to make comments on the fly as when he does live games. With a bit of time to prepare he is just about manageable.

Harsha Bhogle has been extremely poor during games these days with cliches and monotonous monologues. We desperately need a good Indian commentator again! Hoping Ashwin could be the man although that might take years. Is there seriously no one from a billion people who isn't worth listening to?

Dinesh Karthik was good on SKY. The problem is Star Sports/BCCI with it's bland uncritical commentary.

I know the commentary standards for hardcore cricket fans has gone down in general, but I think repetitive clichés and obvious humor are needed for the casual fan, especially when covering white ball cricket. I was recently watching Ind-Eng ODI final, last few overs with all of the family - dad, mom, sister, wife, bro in law and this almost never happens. And the ladies who are casual fans or non followers were able to pick up on the proceedings because the commentary wasn't too complicated and was covering the basics of the situation. The clichéd comments on the tactics were appreciated because they were easy to understand. You need that sort of commentary as well besides the expert analysis to keep the casual viewer engaged, else it can start going over the head and cause disinterest.
